Members GRANKOR Posted September 6, 2007 Members Posted September 6, 2007 I got this a couple of weeks ago but just now bothered to take pics... Fender 75 reissue Jazz
Members GRANKOR Posted September 6, 2007 Author Members Posted September 6, 2007 sorry the pics are kinda crappy but it was a cellphone
Moderators Kindness Posted September 6, 2007 Moderators Posted September 6, 2007 I like your bass, so don't take my next question as any dig whatsoever, I'm just curious. Has anyone actually seen a real '75 with a maple board and black inlays? Every '75 I've ever seen that has a maple board had the pearl inlays (I've probably only had my hands on 15-20 of them, but that's still quite a few). I've been confused for years as to why the reissue is different.
Members GRANKOR Posted September 6, 2007 Author Members Posted September 6, 2007 I have no idea. I'm glad it has the black though, pearl on maple looks bad to me

Members GRANKOR Posted September 6, 2007 Author Members Posted September 6, 2007 On the CASE?!?!??! Sweet yup!! there isn't a mark on the bass at all!
Members rummy Posted September 6, 2007 Members Posted September 6, 2007 Sooooooo pretty. I have a question, though. Does yours have a button thingie on the back of the headstock? If you do, do you know what it does?
Members GRANKOR Posted September 6, 2007 Author Members Posted September 6, 2007 no third button, I have no idea why that was there
Moderators Kindness Posted September 6, 2007 Moderators Posted September 6, 2007 no third button, I have no idea why that was there Initially some players that were converting from the double bass wanted the strap to position the bass more upright. You will see the strap button atthe back of the headstock on old Fenders (pre 1970s).

I always guessed that it was because they just drilled through the headstock for the string tree, and put that on there to hide the hole. But then what do I know...

I always guessed that it was because they just drilled through the headstock for the string tree, and put that on there to hide the hole. But then what do I know... I initially thought it was a great place to put the end of your strap when you were putting the bass back in the case. Then I did some investigative research and found a couple primary sources that gave the reason I cited above. I wouldn't have guessed that since I've never seen anyone play the bass that way.
Members RSBro Posted September 6, 2007 Members Posted September 6, 2007 Did you get that from Talkbass?I saw one just like that (75RI) that I almost grabbed a month or so back.
