Members One Bad Monkey
The smallest speakon-to-speakon cable apparently in the city is a 10 footer. It's not a big deal, but I'd really like a smaller (like 5 foot or less) cable, since it's only going to be connected from the amp to the cab. My question is this; I'm not familiar with speakon connections, but are they hard to solder? Do they need soldering? My thought is that if I could, I'd rather buy two speakon ends, cut the cord in half and fix the ends so I'd have two cables (one as a backup). Good/bad idea? Members xOriginalNinjax
Speakons and banana plugs require no solder. They're a "screw-in" application. Very easy to do. DO IT. hahaha
Moderators Kindness Posted September 7, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 7, 2007 I have a few speakon cables that are 3'. In any case, there is no soldering required for speakon connectors. It is as easy as can be.

Moderators Kindness Posted September 7, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 7, 2007 If it is standard wiring, you need to hook up the live singal to the +1 and the ground to the -1 and leave the +2 and -2 unconnected.
