Members bassdudeguy Posted September 13, 2007 Members Posted September 13, 2007 most of those guys just bore me, i dont like that look at how good i am stuff
Members jmseymour Posted September 13, 2007 Members Posted September 13, 2007 I saw Stu Hamm once oddly enough in St. Louis as some music convention. He's amazing to see.
Members flemtone Posted September 13, 2007 Members Posted September 13, 2007 I had a blast last year, but it was slap/pop all the way. The only problem I had was the volume level. Sweet gear though. Not too much room for a basic Motown-style player to be able to hear him/herself. If you go, sign up for the workshops early!

Billy Sheehan & Dave Ellefson certainly weren't doing any slap & pop...
Members WillPlay4food Posted September 13, 2007 Members Posted September 13, 2007 Wow, I might have to check this out. Also good to see another nutmegger on the boards.
Members guitargod0dmw Posted September 13, 2007 Author Members Posted September 13, 2007 Also good to see another nutmegger on the boards. As always! But rare...
Members flemtone Posted September 13, 2007 Members Posted September 13, 2007 You must have went to different clinics than I. Billy Sheehan & Dave Ellefson certainly weren't doing any slap & pop... no, not in the clinics, but in the room(s) in general where the vendors and innovators were hawking their wares. I thought my head was gonna pop off when I got off the elevator.

I thought my head was gonna pop off when I got off the elevator. Yeah...it was pretty loud! I didn't really even play anything...I didn't want to add to the mess. There honestly wasn't too much that I really wanted to play anyways. Most of the stuff they had you can find at GC...except for a couple of boutique guys...
Members flemtone Posted September 14, 2007 Members Posted September 14, 2007 I had the chance to try out the Markbass stuff - and bought a Markbass rig about 4 months later from GC on 14th St.
Members guitargod0dmw Posted October 28, 2007 Author Members Posted October 28, 2007 Ok...so I went yesterday, but I wasn't going today. It was a heckuva lot of fun! We went to see: Dave Ellefson (awesome as always) Wojtek Pilichowski (very kickass slap clinic...doesn't speak any english though) Doug Wimbish (TONS of effects, and he uses all of them...in every song) We also went to the concert, but ened up having to bail a little early. Matt Garrison opened up, he was really good...but it was boring. Then they gave out Tony Levin's lifetime achievement award, but he played with the TLB. Then Lee Sklar's award...but he didn't play. Then Meshell Ndegeocello's band played. They were good, just not exactly my kind of music. We had to leave at this point...right before the All-Star Bass Jam. Here are some pics of the event...
Members justinbass Posted October 28, 2007 Members Posted October 28, 2007 I am so jealous. I was at a wedding instead. I had an awesome time, but still, I would have loved to go there instead.
Members rummy Posted October 28, 2007 Members Posted October 28, 2007 Nice! You got to meet those guys, and see them jam! Kick ass Ooh, Tony Levin and a bongo!
Members guitargod0dmw Posted October 28, 2007 Author Members Posted October 28, 2007 Nice! You got to meet those guys, and see them jam! Kick ass Ooh, Tony Levin and a bongo! Yeah. They are all really cool and humble, there is no ego at this thing! They all walk around and talk to anyone...it's just a blast.
Members flemtone Posted October 28, 2007 Members Posted October 28, 2007 I was there yesterday - Pilichowski kicked ass. What a phenomenal player.
Members guitargod0dmw Posted October 28, 2007 Author Members Posted October 28, 2007 I was there yesterday - Pilichowski kicked ass. What a phenomenal player. You were there? In that clinic? Where did you sit??? I was in the back right...
Members flemtone Posted October 28, 2007 Members Posted October 28, 2007 Back left - right next to the camera tripod - I had on the black Trace Elliot jacket. There was a girl with blue-tinted hair sitting right in front of me...
