Members Zebra Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Been musing about this for quite a while. Nuts? Go for it?
Members james on bass Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I say go for it. I'd love to have a custom 2 pickup p-bass.
Members james on bass Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 For purely aesthetical reasons, I'd prefer the pickups to not be in the Entwistle mirror image config, but that's just me.

For purely aesthetic reasons, I'd go with the mirror configuration, actually. Plus, theoretically this position should give the D and G strings some added phatness that they naturally lack, right? Curently, the pickup you see there is intended to replace the original. However, I could just put that in and then put the original in the bridge once I get it to a shop, but I don't know if that would even work with two different pickups. Ideally, I would add another pickup from guitarfetish like the one I have. Anyone know what routing would cost?
Members Apendecto Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Anyone know what routing would cost? I'd go with the config that James on Bass is saying, too. Routing is a piece of cake. I added a bridge J to one of my P's and it couldn't have gone any better. I have a router at the house and bought a J template and router bit from Stew Mac. The cost was around $30. If the template is secure and your router depth is set, there is really nothing that can go wrong. If you have a router or know someone who does, it's a piece of cake and doesn't cost much. If you do go this route () I can walk you through it. Yo.
Members Apendecto Posted September 16, 2007 Members Posted September 16, 2007 So, are you nuts yet? Yo.
Members Zebra Posted September 16, 2007 Author Members Posted September 16, 2007 So, are you nuts yet? Yo. Not yet. Still waiting to borrow a soldering iron to install the first pickup. I might go for a template from stew mac, but I haven't checked if there's a router around. If not, I might just see what price El Rayo (http://www.elrayoguitarworks.com/documents/services.htm) will do it for. I also checked out what a normal configuration would look like: and now I'm starting to lean this way.
