Members Crescent Seven Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Put yourself back in 1985, and you'd realize that Phil Collins was some of the best of what was around. Not all of his tunes held up to time but he definitely didn't suck.C7
Members Richy Posted September 15, 2007 Author Members Posted September 15, 2007 I'd still rather watch a drumming Gorilla though.
Members philthygeezer Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I happen to think this is a fantastic album.
Members no-logic Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I happen to think this is a fantastic album. +1. As well as every Genesis album before that. Well, everything without Peter Gabriel anyway.
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I happen to think this is a fantastic album. +1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the 1st full Genesis album I bought. Listen to the opening tune. THAT's the Phil Collins I fell in love with. PC's been a HUGE influence on my approach to rhythm and arranging. How he's sapped out over the years has been depressing for me. Check out "I Don't Care Anymore" as well. Can you say INTENSE PASSION?
Members bholder Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 The gorilla's kinda on the small side, doncha think?
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 The gorilla's kinda on the small side, doncha think? PC also has his kit set up in reverse from playing along with Ringo Star on TV when he was a kid.
Members jonathan_matos5 Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 if you dont like phil collins that gorilla is gonna kill you and i am not gonna even attempt to stop him
Members James Hart Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Abacab has always been a favorite Pop album of mine... I LOVE the bass solo in "No Reply At All"
Members Mudbass Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I like some of the Genesis stuff, but everything he's done solo has been a steaming pile of pop puke.
Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 But this is cool.. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CbLr2NEV_7o Ah yes, the one fill that makes everyone play air drums. And that commercial just makes sense to me. Not sure why a gorilla playing drums to a Phil Collins song makes sense, but it does!
Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I like some of the Genesis stuff, but everything he's done solo has been a steaming pile of pop puke. Why must you hate on Disney's Tarzan's soundtrack?
Members bassesofalessergod Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 How has no one mentioned the SVT in the background. That was the first thing i noticed. the second was the horrible edit on the tune.
Members lug Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 +1. As well as every Genesis album before that. Well, everything without Peter Gabriel anyway. This post has no logic.
Members no-logic Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 This post has no logic. How's that?
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 How has no one mentioned the SVT in the background. That was the first thing i noticed. the second was the horrible edit on the tune. A couple of us mentioned it in the last thread on this commercial.
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 I like some of the Genesis stuff, but everything he's done solo has been a steaming pile of pop puke. Again, listen to "I Dont Care Anymore."
Members Funkee1 Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Why must you hate on Disney's Tarzan's soundtrack? +1. One of my favorite Disney soundtracks.
Members Mudbass Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 Again, listen to "I Dont Care Anymore." Nooooooooooooo! Not again!
Members bassesofalessergod Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 A couple of us mentioned it in the last thread on this commercial. a buncha jerks i bet.
Members lug Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 How's that? It would almost seem that you post indicated that you don't think Peter Gabriel is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Surely, I have mistaken your intent. If so, I must appologize.
Members jonathan_matos5 Posted September 15, 2007 Members Posted September 15, 2007 How has no one mentioned the SVT in the background. That was the first thing i noticed. the second was the horrible edit on the tune. because ampeg is not worth mentioning

Phil Collins did more than anyone else to make sure music in the 80s rated a colostomy bag.
