(which I never used) BTW- I heart my Laser printer as well. $50 toner cartridge lasts me a year or 2.
Members Bluescout Posted September 22, 2007 Members Posted September 22, 2007 I've had a couple bad experiences with refilled or compatible cartridges so I don't recommend them anymore. Oh yea, and I love my laser too.
Members 78pbass Posted September 22, 2007 Members Posted September 22, 2007 depends, are we talking inkjet? If os, then OEM only, the printheads dont get reman'd and often leak or seep Laser? quality really depends on the reman'r. For HP's Curtis-young, Lexmark and Xerox come to mind as quality remans. Being Ex-Xerox myself, I know the HP compat hulls come from Canon who makes carts for HP.
Members chunky-b Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 I worked for HP several years ago (1997?) and they told us factory technicians to "recomend" their name brand cartridges but that we could not refuse to service the "compatible" ones because of a lawsuit that didn't let manufactures specify to use their own brand consumables. I use name brand HP ones as a choice at home (I have three lasers right now 4550 Color, LaserJet5P and a LaserJet 3015). I have seen some problems with re-filled cartridges and really cheap off brands leaking. But that is the local toner re-charge people, not the Office Depot, Office Max, etc. 2nd tier cartridges. I have never scene them damage a machine beyond what a toner vaccuum will fix. (In other words, cleaning up the leak.)
Members Perfessor Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 I get mine refilled at a drug store. They do a great job and it costs $10. There are lots of places that refill the cartridges.
