Members Benjamin Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 After posting a bulletin on a local band register myspace, I received a call from a band who had supported my old band over the last couple of years. Female vocal, sometimes acoustic. Kinda like Missy Higgins but with a bigger dose of rock (for those who know who Missy Higgins is). The drummer sounds really good, tasteful and his time on the recordings is sweet. It will be slightly adventurous and might just suit my more melodic style, plenty of space for me to do stuff in without going overboard. Tasty and smooth and solid. www.myspace.com/searchlightband They have a fill-in bass player but their thoughts are that he's not quite suited to the band. Gotta learn the four songs this afternoon, jamming at 6pm. Wish me luck!

Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 24, 2007 Members Posted September 24, 2007 Cool gig, best of luck.
Members Benjamin Posted September 25, 2007 Author Members Posted September 25, 2007 It went really really well!!!! I think I am a good fit for them and they loved the fact that immediately the rock factor was pumped up a bit. There is definitely room to play around and do stuff. We worked on a new song and it rocks really hard. Used their practice amp, Hartke head through some 4x10. Next practice I might take my rig around, coz the Hartke was a bit boomy and I couldn't dial that out. I'd really like that GK 700RB-II right now... Looks like I will be on the recording for their next single and the first official gig is most likely 12th October. Jamming again on Thursday and possibly heading to a local jam night to get some sea legs back. I haven't played with a full band and full songs for nearly 6 months. This is really enjoyable. Glad you guys liked it too, they have definitely made some progress and the newer songs I have heard are growing stronger. Cheers!
