Members tylytle Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 You wanna do a Fender Tele refret?
Moderators Kindness Posted September 23, 2007 Moderators Posted September 23, 2007 Maple neck or Rosewood?
Moderators Kindness Posted September 23, 2007 Moderators Posted September 23, 2007 I'm not set up to refinish and pulling frets on a maple board will certainly screw with the finish on the face of the board. If you just need a level and crown, send me a PM and send the bass to me. Otherwise, your best bet is a full service shop. I can help you find reasonable ones if you need help.
Members tylytle Posted September 23, 2007 Author Members Posted September 23, 2007 Yeah, It's my guitard's American Tele. I wondered about the finish. There is a shop in Norman OK, About 2 hours south of me that is supposed to have a nice machine thingy for doing this. I will check them out. It is beyond a crown job. He has a B and G bender on it and it has cut nice deep grooves in the frets. Skatalite, You know if Norman Music is good at this?
Moderators Kindness Posted September 23, 2007 Moderators Posted September 23, 2007 I've handled some really deep groove by leveling, but you're the one that actually has seen the instrument.
Members tylytle Posted September 23, 2007 Author Members Posted September 23, 2007 It is about 1/2 through the fret. The string gets caught up in it. Is that to far gone?
Moderators Kindness Posted September 23, 2007 Moderators Posted September 23, 2007 Depends on how high the frets are. If there is enough material beneath the groove to create a crown, it can be done. It will also require lowering the grooves in the nut.
Members tylytle Posted September 23, 2007 Author Members Posted September 23, 2007 Hum... I will tell him and see what he wants. He needs to back off the SS strings....
Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted September 23, 2007 Members Posted September 23, 2007 Ty, I haven't seen anything more on this guy but his Web site, but it may be worth a look. He's here in Edmond and looks a lot along the lines of what you're wanting, unless you really want it Plekked at Norman Music.
Members tylytle Posted September 23, 2007 Author Members Posted September 23, 2007 I forgot about this guy. Thanks for reminding me. Are those prices high or am I just getting sticker shock? Maybe he is worth it.
