Members PaulyWally Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 How can a "Scratch And Dent" item be backordered for over a month?? How can it be backordered at all?!? wtf?
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 They're waiting for something to happen.
Members PaulyWally Posted September 25, 2007 Author Members Posted September 25, 2007 They're waiting for something to happen. So they are guessing that they'll have a certain product returned by the backordered date?
Members burdizzos Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 The scratch and dent items were scratched and/or dented at the manufacturer's house. MF probably snatches those items up for a song and passes the savings on to their customers. Come to think of it, I doubt many of MF's S&D items were actually damaged at the MF facility.
Members johnny6644 Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 Working to get just the right scratch and/or dent. There's an art to these things.
Members misterhinkydink Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 The {censored}ers are waiting for me to send back my second new, used Gibson SG JR.

Members mrcrow Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 you cant just produce dents and scratches of the peg...it takes time.. seeing is believing...hands on guns shoot better than catalogue ones
Members Goofball Jones Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 Well, you can also get a scratch and dent special from the Fender Gibson Custom Shop...where they scratch and dent things up nice and then charge you about 300% more for the instrument! I'm just saying....
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted September 25, 2007 CMS Author Posted September 25, 2007 One man's scratch & dent is another's 'relic'

They have a deal with the manufacture to receive blemished items whenever they may be available. They advertise the discounted scratch and dent item on their site as back ordered because they know that one will be available to them at some point in the future. The only problem is that they never really know when one will be available. Those dates are just a guesstimate.
Members willsellout Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 Also I believe returns are listed as scratch and dent...so they could have issued an RA number and are waiting on it? Dan
Members PaulyWally Posted September 25, 2007 Author Members Posted September 25, 2007 This whole thing makes me uneasy about buying a scratch and dent that is backordered. Anyone have any first-hand experience?

Members chunky-b Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 Maybe MF is waiting for the truck to collect all of the items scratched and dented by the emo kids in Guitard Centers so they can sell them...

Members SB900LE Posted September 25, 2007 Members Posted September 25, 2007 My real peeve with the Scratch n Dent thing is that you have no idea about the nature of the scratch, dent, defect, refurb, refinish, whatever it is, and they can't tell you what it is either. Even if they only have one. It's a damn pig in a poke. You'd think that some of this info could be provided as part of their big "upgrade".

Members Undead Sycip Posted September 26, 2007 Members Posted September 26, 2007 And I got a Fireglo in the mail too. 5 months. Same price. Gee maybe Ric Page o Rick Resource will come down $50 from their $1500 asking price. Don't hate, appreciate.
