Members Nazman06 Posted September 26, 2007 Members Posted September 26, 2007 I want to get a new 15" bass speaker for my 15" swr cab..any suggestions?I would like to buy the same speaker that comes in some name brand cabs..But, Eminence only has the standard speakers for sell.I was thinking of either the Emimence 15" legend or the Emimence Kappalite 3015LF..any ideas? I need it to be at least 300 watts and 8 ohms is ok
Moderators isaac42 Posted September 26, 2007 Moderators Posted September 26, 2007 What are the dimensions of the cabinet? Is it ported? If so, what are the dimensions of the port? And what kind of sound do you want?
Members Nazman06 Posted September 26, 2007 Author Members Posted September 26, 2007 I am not sure of the deminisons. It is at the practice room..But, it is one of these with a red swr logo.. I bought it used and the speaker was blown..I put a black widow in it.But, I would like something better than the black widow..I want something that when I go to the club and they have to mic the cab instead of running direct that I can say go ahead with confidence.as afar as the sound I want..we do Priest, Maiden, Nazareth, Ufo..you get the picture.
Members rpsands Posted September 27, 2007 Members Posted September 27, 2007 Workinman's. Man that looks like a small cab for a 15. According to :http://www.swrsound.com/support/manuals/pdfs/wmcabs_om.PDF It's not really that tiny --Dimensions: 23.25"W x 20.25"H x 18.5"D Be wary that the crossover freq on that thing is 5khz. You may want to replace the crossover if you get a 15 that can't handle those frequencies. I believe 3500hz is more traditional for a 15" cab.
Members rpsands Posted September 27, 2007 Members Posted September 27, 2007 If you email SWR, they will send you the specs of the speaker they used in that thing. Given it's 200w and the frequencies it handles, you might want to try an Eminence Alpha or a Jensen NEO15-150, or Mod15-200. If you can find EV speakers I think they tend toward higher hz 15's, so you might check into those. You also might want to try Carvin's PS-15. It's pretty decent.http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=PS15&CID=RSPK
Members Roguetitan Posted September 27, 2007 Members Posted September 27, 2007 if the voice coil is not damaged just get the SWR woofer reconed.
Members Darkstorm Posted September 27, 2007 Members Posted September 27, 2007 My Fave would be either JBL 15" or the 15" used in Eden Nemesis series. Eminence legend as good basic one.
