is aerosmith blues? i thought they were rock n roll

Aerosmith = Blues based Rock and roll.

I vote for a two way tie: Robert Cray band/ Robben Ford and the Thin Blue Line

Barney Kessel was an awesome guitarist. He played the big band circuit, too.

I liked Robert Lockwood Jr. who died here in Cleveland in March. He was the last of the Mississippi bluesmen and he played here weekly his last 10 years. His passing went almost unnoticed in the music business. I never saw a single national news bit about his passing!!

I like the Chicago stuff: Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Magic Sam. Wolf is my favorite, though. Just amazing stuff, Hubert Sumlin, those vocals...wow.

A good book to read is Moanin' at Midnight, about Wolf. It's really interesting. A real portrait of a bygone world of playing music and making records and all. Wolf contributed to Social Security to the members of his band; he was one of the very, very few blues/rock guys who did. He was able to get himself a nice house and live reasonably well from what he made performing.

You can't do that any more, at least not where I live.

Really interesting stuff. I highly recommend it.

Always been a Muddy Waters fan. I like the ealry Robert Cray Band, pre-Strong Persuader. HUGE Taj Mahal fan. The Bloomfield/Cooper/Stills Super Sessions album is killer.

{censored}, I just digs me the blues.

If any of you like the Mississippi Blues, which has a connection to the Chicago Blues, checkout the movie "Last of the Mississippi Jukes"...

It is a good story of the people tryin to keep the old blues alive and the roads it has gone down to get here...
