Members sydfan
Or is it supposed to remain flush with the body? This is the first I've heard of that happening. Can someone in the know shed some light on it for me?
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted September 27, 2007 CMS Author Share Posted September 27, 2007 Yes, it's common to have a small (thickness of a matchbook cover) gap between the back edge of the bridge and the body. I've seen people drill and screw the bridge on the wide flat area and install a pair of screws. I wouldn't bother...the bass sounds great and has plenty of sustain. Members fretless
Tail lift ? Seems to be a real phenomenon over on the Ric forum 4003's as well. There is that cool Hipshot replacement that still retains the look and sound but without the mutes.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted September 27, 2007 CMS Author Share Posted September 27, 2007 To me it's just one of the endearing quirks that makes a Ric uber-cool.
Members texasbassplayer
My '80 4003 doesn't have that problem, the bridge on early 4003s had 2 extra screws. People didn't like the look so RIC went back to the original design. My 4001S and 4001CS both have slight lift.
