Members zachoff Posted October 2, 2007 Members Posted October 2, 2007 So you need amp and cab? Portable & Loud? Peavey FirebassAvatar 2x12 With this setup you might have enough left over for a Mexican Fender instead of a Squier.

Members GreaserMatt Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 Search craigslist in your area; for $600 you should be able to get a cheap bass, head, & cab. I scored a hartke 4x10 cab for $100 from a guy was moving. Matt
Members Onkel Bob Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 Used GK800RB and Avatar 2x12.
Members rpsands Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 Used Peavey Megabass and Legion sound 115/210 stack, biamped, squire p-bass.
Members johnny6644 Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 Rondo Music... They make a bunch of SX short scales or at least used to. You can spend more money on the rig. They sound pretty good... I've got one and sounds great after a PU swap-out. Okay, after looking... they have one short scale right now for 120 bucks. But it looks like a good one!

For YOUR budget? Let's see...MarkBass builds a killer light, portable and loud combo that's just outside your budget. Peavey, makes a nice loud combo(TNT) that's easily within your budget, but not light at all. Are you currently gigging? Best save up and buy right/buy once. In the meantime, rent something to get you by from your local dealer. We've got a great Yorkville dealer that does rent to own -and treats the musician RIGHT. See if you can find something within a 50 mi radius for yourself.
