Members Thumper Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 [rant] OK, so everyone else in on a rant today. It's my turn. The Peoples' Democratic Republic of Portland is filled with people who identify themselves as '(Insert your gender/race/ethnicity/etc here)-Americans.' As in 'As a (whatever)-American, I find that offensive.' As if any gives a rat's @ss. This is America. You have the right to be offended. Blow your nose, wipe you eyes, and put some ice in a towel. [/rant] Thanks. I feel better.
Members y-o-y Posted October 3, 2007 Members Posted October 3, 2007 My brother lives in Nairobi, Kenya. Nobody there refers to him as an American-African. He is not bothered by this.

Members ezstep Posted October 4, 2007 Members Posted October 4, 2007 What bothers me more than anything about the hypens is that we tend to recognize SOME and don't recognize OTHERS. If there are African-Americans and Asian-Americans, et al, shouldn't there also be European-Americans (both East- and West-)? Why does my "race" get slighted so much? Why do you hate left-handed East-European-Americans so much? :poke:
