Is there a doctor in the house?

So this old guy goes to the doctor and says 'My ear hurts and I can't hear a damn thing, can you tell me what's wrong?"

The doctor takes a quick look and pulls something out of the old mans ear 'It's simple, you had a suppository in your ear"

"Oh good" the old man says, "now I know where my hearing aid is!!"

They're basically zits up your rectum. How about lancing them with a sharp implement?

Go to the ER and ask the doc on staff there to do it after a quick shot of novocaine in the appropriate area...

That is unequivocal bull{censored}. What you're talking about is an abcess.

Rhoids are varicose veins in the anal area. They come from years of lifting heavy objects and straining. Genetics play a role too.

The best thing is to have them removed. There is a new infra red therapy treatment that is far less painful than the conventional methods of surgical removal and in most cases, will not recur. Have them taken out as soon as possible. There should be a doc in your area that is familiar with this kind of treatment.

As far as an immediate treatment ask your doc for a 0.5% cortisone with 3% lidocaine. That works the best but it is only temporary.

Here's one out of control, like this thread. :D

*snip* barf

No, they're not zits, they're more like embolisms - pop one, and you could easily have a serious bleeding and/or infection problem. Really, really bad idea.

They are not emboli.

I didn't say they were, I said they were more like them than they were like zits. After reading the medical definition of "embolism", I see it's used to describe the occlusion itself, not the ballooning of the blood vessel such occlusions sometimes cause. 'Rhoids are more like the latter, rather than the occlusion itself. So, I guess "aneurysm" is more the word I was looking for.

Still, nothing like a zit, and piercing or popping one like a zit is likely to be a very bad move.

I've read about a new treatment that uses infrared light to coagulate the blood in the bulging area, leading to reduction or even reabsorbtion. I'm seriously considering checking the procedure out further.

Well, the pharmacist said the Cortizone10 hydrocortizone will help reduce the inflammation, while the Nupercainal will deaden the sense of feeling in the area, and that they're okay to use together. So that's what I'm doing. And yes, on the next visit, the specialist will hear my request to do something about these!

Thanks for the input all!

The inflamation isn't the worst, it's the damned itching at the most inappropriate times... :freak:

What no one liked my rhoid pic?

Here's a site for the IR coagulation. This is about as close to non-surgical as one can get. It is supposed to be relatively pain free especially given the other procedures for removal.

good to see that something is helping. Hang on to the Nupercainal. Its got a heft dose of dibucaine which is absorbed much faster into the skin than lidocaine. Its great stuff for burn, bug bites and anything else that hurts:thu:
