Members hawkhuff Posted October 7, 2007 Members Posted October 7, 2007 I am looking at this preamp for my active Fender V J Bass. All of a sudden the US made on board preamp took a {censored}. The treble knob is constantly scratchy and the mid boost lost its detent. Anyway, I was looking at this one, the Z Mode Preamp from Audere Engineering. I wanted to know if there are others to compete with this one which goes for $149 or $230, depending on model. It received good reviews recently in BP Mag.
Members Rippin' Robin Posted October 7, 2007 Members Posted October 7, 2007 Isn't it easier to get some new pots for the existing pre-amp and solder them on?

I looked at the existing preamp and said to myself {censored}, that's a good bit of fine point soldering. Then I said maybe I can get forumites to beat and cajole me into a new preamp.
Members RoboChrist Posted October 7, 2007 Members Posted October 7, 2007 Demeter makes a loverly onboard bass pre. I forget the exact model name but it's one of the best sounding preamps money can buy.
