Members Thumper
I've received some helpful advice on restringing my P/J Bass to a BEAD tuning. Blueyedmule mentioned restringing the T-Bird, as the slightly longer scale would be an advantage. So, how say you: P/J Bass or T-Bird?

Members Poltergeist
if its a gibson and not an epiphone, a T-Bird but with that money you can get a Sadowsky or a Rickenbacker 4001 bass, which are beyond all that... much better.... Members Thumper
longer scale on on a Thunderbird? Hmm... For some reason, I thought my Bird had a 35" scale... ah...no. It would be 34"
Members zachoff
I wouldn't get a T-Bird and string it BEAD and I f'n love T-Birds. I'm guessing the B would be floppy and muddy and the T-Bird bridges don't look real easy to adjust which means your intonation would probably be off. Moderators Kindness Posted October 8, 2007 Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2007 Ps don't really start to sound good until you get to A1 and above, if you ask me. However, I don't have enough experience with a T-bird to vote.
Members Thumper
Thanks, all. I'm going with the P/J. As much as I love the tone of my T-bird, I'm afraid the B string will lose definition, as the pups are already pretty heavy on midrange. I think setting the intonation might be a bit dodgy, as that miserable Gibson three-point pot-metal POS is hard to fine-tune. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
