Members hawkhuff Posted October 9, 2007 Members Posted October 9, 2007 When they first put up the Hubble and straightened out the mirror issues, they pointed it toward a black blank empty section of Ursa Major. That's the constellation where the Big Dipper is located in case you're not familiar. They did this because they wanted to calibrate the scope. They opened the shutter for, if I recall correctly, 2 hours. This is what they found. It wasn't empty at all. Everything you see in this pic is a galaxy. Amazing.
