Members Piggy Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 God I want this P, but the price is astronomical!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1981-VINTAGE-FENDER-PRECISION-BASS-USA-RARE-FINISH-LOOK_W0QQitemZ320168585339QQihZ011QQcategoryZ33039QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Members Poltergeist Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 with the price of that you can get a Sadowsky which i do believe is way superior...
Members Piggy Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 yeah, but this thing has more potential to increase in value...
Members Flod Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Wow, just wow. And I who was esentially GAS free...
Members Renfield Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Never trust a dealer who feels the need to SHOUT AT YOU ALL THE TIME!! Nice bass, but I don't see it being a worthwhile investment IMO, too new for that.
Members JacieFB Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 That thing is in insanely good shape. It's beautiful, too. Glad I don't have P-GAS and 3k burning a hole in my pocket because this is the kind of thing I'd get taken on. I guess it does have the potential to increase in value if you don't play it. Keep your eye on it and offer him 2 grand when it doesn't sell.
Members jackcheez Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 yeah, but this thing has more potential to increase in value...Not a lot from that price. It's pretty much topped out for a while.
Members Ender_rpm Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Its purty, but isn't that era considered the nadir of Fender QC? As an investment, maybe, as a player, I can think of better things to spend the money on.
Members RSBro Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 For that much, getcha a nice Wal!
Members Piggy Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 I think 81 was ok, wasn't that the year Dan Smith was employed and production dropped severely to try and improve things?
Members Poltergeist Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 i want a fender precision from the 70's... but its just too expensive.... not worth what they ask for it...
Members REMUS Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 with the price of that you can get a Sadowsky which i do believe is way superior... +1 If you are buying it as an investment (raising in value), then it isn't really gas... it's something else aka greed imo. For me GAS is wanting something really bad to simply play, of course i'm not saying this is the status quo.
Members Piggy Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 nah I dont want it for an 'investment' I think it looks nice and would play it if I owned it
Members bassesofalessergod Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 thr guy must be dreaming. if it sells for that it's a crazy world
Members Piggy Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 yeah I agree it is seriously overpriced. If I had the money I'd offer him
Members Mudbass Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 {censored} that! For that price you could buy a new P-bass, have it professionally refinished in that color and still have some change left over.
Members Emprov Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 Buy a used MIJ or recent MIA natural P, stain it translucent blue and toss on the ashtray and cover. You'll probably have a better playing bass for less than half the cost.
Members bassesofalessergod Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 I've seen older ones sell for less than that. Granted they weren't as good condition or as nice a colour but hey... you won't see it again.
Members Piggy Posted October 10, 2007 Author Members Posted October 10, 2007 true. I remember 10 years ago a 77 Strat in a used guitar shop in Leeds for
Members Thumper Posted October 10, 2007 Members Posted October 10, 2007 It's pretty, but way overvalued. It's scary when early '80s, 'Dying Gasp of CBS-Era' Fenders are going for that kind of money.
