Need help setting up!

Recommended Posts

A friend of one of my band members is giving us some studio equipment to use since her husband passed away. Unfortunately, it had all been boxed and moved so I have no clue what was hooked to what. I'm pretty sure we got everything we needed (maybe more) so I just need to know how to set it up.
Here's the main stuff:

Three Furman Power Conditioners

Ashly Model 1502 15 Band Equalizer

DBX 166XL Compressor Limiter Gate

BBE 882i Sonic Maximizer

Lexicon MPX 500 24-bit Dual Channel Processor

Korg D32XD 32-Track Digital Recorder

We also got a box-load of cables, I'd say we have the right ones.

If you could help me by telling me what needs to be connected to what, and in what order, it would be greatly appreciated.

Mark is right. The other items are more adpt for a PA system but

you can learn to incorporate them later. The Furman is just a power conditioner

so it may be wise to use it to protect the gear from power surges.

Download the manuals and read them carefully. All the setup and application directions should be there.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure I've got all the texts I need, plus some extra books, such as Home Recording for Dummies. Do either of you have any tips for recording acoustic instruments, like, well, guitar?

Trial and error is the best teacher in this case. We can give you a starting place, though.

What kind of mics do you have?
