... since I heard from my Mach II 5 seller! Hope the dude isn't backin' out, as I've already sold my Mach I 4! :( But I'd honestly understand if so.

Oh well- some guy on TB has an early 90's TBX 6 string in trans blue that I'll buy instead. I mean, how could I not? ;)

So is the TBX too, though... At least in my eyes. Either way, I'm gonna win out! :D

Oy. I kinda thought the "Wal for a Wal" thing was a lock for you. As I said before, that Wal would've been seen strictly as an investment piece if it were mine. It's basically irreplaceable and highly sought after - money in the bank for someone willing to sit on it.

man... i'd rather have half a Wal bass then a full TBX
:D

Chickitty check it tho-

For a Modu-guy like me, that's about as sexy as it gets!!

Yeah i know-

i'm sure it'll work out, or at least i hope. but i'm not doing the guy who bought mine wrong tho if my end doesn't pan out.

i know man, but that is not something you get a once in a lifetime... you can buy that somewhere else... you definitly dont find a Wal, which is probably the finest quality bass you can get the same way you can get your hands on a Modulus...

The TBX's are actually not in production and haven't been in a while.

They were the real hand-made Moduli when where in production, so each one is it's own and pretty special in it's own right.

I just forgot I had homedudes number- I'll be givin' him a buzz asap! :D

All is good-

As of this week the bad boy (with a custom Electric Wood flight case!) will be in my custody.

I can't believe it, really.

If you want anything I own, bass wise, tell me and I'll sell it to you (minus this one!). :)

I'm gonna be content with this and my custom Q5.

Cool beans - there's no way you'd be as happy with an old-school Modulus when the possibility of owning a Wal 5 instead of it was on the table. That sort of reverse psychology doesn't work. :)

The novelty will wear off on that as soon as somebody puts a Dingwall Z-1 or Z-2 on Ebay. :p OTOH, you may have found your voice in Modulus Quantums, which is actually a big accomplishment.

I'd still sit on the Wal and treat it as more of an investment. The only "swiped right off the stage during a gig" story I've been a few degrees of separation away from involved a Wal bass:eek:

Nah-

I had a Dingwall. :) I traded it to get my initial Q5 and never looked back. :)

Well, that's my problem. I'm at the point in my life to where if I own an instrument, I need to use it. For how much this is, when I get it the guy is going to give me some time to make sure I want to keep it and I'm really going to think about it, so it'll be for Sunday AM gigs and special occasions, as my custom Q5 is going to be my workhorse, which is why I ordered it. :)

YES YES YES YES!

Whats a modulus like? I've wanted tot ry one, but to get them here you HAVE to pre order them from the dealer (which is like 7 hours away!)!

I want to try a couple myself. RSB's constant praise has made me, at the very least, curious. :p

yes, that and the consistant wrap they get at TB. I always dug the look, but like I said, they are a rare commodity over here!

I youtube searched modulus bass and over 80% of it was Flea covers, yuck!

Agreed - Here's Oteil workin' his namesake Modulus:

There might be some Dave Matthews Band clips that feature a Flea 5, gratefully not played by Flea.

I owned a Sweetspot for a while and hated it. It felt and played really nicely but I didn't like the tone. ON all the recordings I hear where a Modulus is used I love it though. I'd love to try some of the other Modulus models out there.

It's far and away my favorite bass ever, the Quantum 5. But, even then you have different choices and options in that small category.

I like the Fleas, but I don't like a Fender-style neck and setup of an instrument, which is what the Flea, VJ and Genesis models are. Those are all very different animals from each other, and miles away from the Q5 which varies HUGELY in tone and taste just with the phenolic board or the chechen, which is my preference, and then pickup and preamp choices as well make it very distinctive.

Bottom line, it's hard to get much further up than a good Q5. And for their quality and durability and the fact that it never needs a setup or intonation adjustment besides the first time you do it make it the ultimate touring/gigging ax IME/IMHO.

I like them more than the Wal I have and probably the Mach II 5 I will have, but my dream Q5 is only a few months away, and these two are going to easily cover the spectrum for me, as I probably won't buy another fretless again as I just don't have much use for them.

Both of my current Q5 fretted's will be up F/S here soon as I'll be playing my Wal almost exclusively until my custom Q5 comes in. Both are awesome basses and very different in their own rights. I'll be giving decent deals on them if anyone were to be interested. :)

My favorite tone recorded of them is Stefan Lessard (of DMB) when he played his Q5 on the "Listener Supported" DVD/CD. He later switched to Fleas, and I did not approve, just like many DMB fans. That model sounds great in most apps, but just not in DMB.

They're so good in fact I'm really going to have to fall in love immediately with this Mach II 5 or I'll be looking to get that TBX 6 instead-

should show you my level of respect and love for these basses. :)

Every sweetspot I've played also I didn't like. The single pickup thing doesn't work for the Quantum line, IMO.

Doh! How could I forget the Oteil model, I've heard that on youtube a lot!!!

Thanks for the info RSB, I always wanted a wal, but as things are I doubt thats going to happen for the next decade or so! But I keep hearing great things about modulus which intrigue me, you know?

I'll try and download that DMB CD tonight!

(btw, according to myspace we have the same birthday)

Yeah Oteil's is a sweet ax. I want one someday for sure.

No problem man. They are my "It" instrument. I've been sold out on them since the first time I played them. Every bass I've bought subsequent to my first Q5 has found it's way out the door in some way. Just not the same for me.

Yeah my Myspace info is "sorta" correct... ;) Let's just say it's coming up soon!
