Members barneyc4
Do they sound good? Worth keeping? Are they Ok for hard rock/modern hard rock? What would you recommend?
Members bnyswonger
Are you talking about stock fender pickups? I certainly have no problem with them. If there's something specifc that you're looking for that they don't do, by all means change 'em out...BUT I would hazard a guess there's an awful lot of folks who just do it because they think it'll make them cool. It won't, and someone gets their money.
Members rpsands
Heh, if the stock pups on a fender P-bass aren't good enough for hard/modern rock there are a crapload of people (9 of every 10 rock bassists) who need a talking to. Members Thumper
The stock pups are fine. Check out an MIA Fender, and if you like the tone, leave it be.

Members REMUS
I only see the point in replacing pups if you have a low end instrument, or an electrical fault. But that's just me, if you know what you want and the description of that particular pup matches the one you envisage... go for it imo.

Members REMUS
A good idea would be to buy the after-market pups second hand, then at least you can re-sell for perhaps a profit?
