Moderators ThudMaker Posted October 16, 2007 Moderators Share Posted October 16, 2007 Does anybody here use either of these? I know a guitarist who uses the GR-20. I wonder what it sounds like on bass. Are there more instruments sounds on the GR-20, but less options for bass? Is that what the purpose of the V-Bass is? Any thoughts on the differences between these 2 products would be appreciated.
Members mike fitzwell
I don't have first hand experience with the V-bass, but last year I played a multi-band benefit and the bassist in the band after us had one. He ran it direct and the tone was absolutely friggin' amazing.
Members Dr. Darwin
I played with the V-bass board in the store one day for about half an hour. It absolutely blew me away. It was quite complex but the features and even the stock sounds in it were amazing. It allowed you to program in detunings, pickup types, pickup placement etc. The synth sounds were by far the best I've ever heard. If I remember correctly, there were even patches to make your bass sound like brass instruments and crazy stuff like that which sounded decent and usable. The only downside is the hefty price tag and the fact that you have to buy that roland synth pickup seperately and mount it to one of your basses. It truly was the pedalboard to end all pedalboards...
