He pronounced it "mow- do- lus" I always figured it was pronounced "mod-u(as in "you")-lus" I have heard others pronounce it "ma-do-lus" as well

Members LittleWoodenBoy Posted October 17, 2007 Members Posted October 17, 2007 Well in Latin the o is short, as is the u on the penult, so the accent will be on the antepenult and it would be pronounced "MOD - you - luss". I would feel safe pronouncing it that way in English as well.
