Members Mr.Mow
Got bored last night.. The neck of my PBass has a seized truss rod, so I though, hey why no defret it. Quick search on the web.. hmm, special tools required.. hmmm.. {censored}it, I got me a Swiss army knife! SWEET! Just jam the blade under the edge of the fret and poppo! Out they come! Took 3 minutes to get those {censored}ers out!! Special tools my arse! Only a few chips too.. Tonight I'm supergluing some fretlines in.. easy easy! Members sludgebass69
What about the rod? The rod is still screwed up, but at least he eliminated the fret buzz!
Members mrcrow
The rod is still screwed up, but at least he eliminated the fret buzz! not unless those fret slots have some decent replacement materials put in..pronto..and well before the existing truss rod decides to bendy bendy the neck from here to hell cracks wont be a problem then... Members Goofball Jones
An inprecision bass?
Members chubrocker
Actually, wouldn't it be an "unprecision" bass? ha ha I've tried TWICE to take some frets out of an old neck. I could never get them to pop out at all.
Members Mr.Mow
What about the rod? Nah, the neck is trashed, its had a few techs look at it, all said the same thing after trying all sorts of funky methods to free it 'this neck is stuffed, the rod is completey buggered, bin it' It currently bends like a banana! So the defretting really is just for {censored}s n giggles, its turning into lots of work to put the damn wood veneer in the slots though.. Members chubrocker
I seem to recall someone using some type of liquid plastic and it worked well. Wood putty then a coat of epoxy?? ????
Members GRANKOR
if it's {censored}ed anyway just trowel some wood putty in and scrape the excess off...
