Members justinbass Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 Wow. Just wow. I am not replacing the GB, but damn. That is a classic bass tone to my ears. If I ever become one of those rich-guys-that-buy-many-amps-and-never-sell-anything-to-afford-future-purchases kind of guys, GK is the next amp I add to my stable. I currently rock the GBE600 and I also have a Markbass 121P combo when I don't need my rig to fill the room, so I have no need for any additional amplification currently. Damn. That amp sounded GOOD. Also, it was running into an Epifani UL115 cabinet. The clarity and response that cabinet has is incredible. Damn I sounded good today.
Members Zebra Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 The school has a GK 700RB and it sounds great. When I get myself a rig, I'm looking for a used GK head no doubt.

I've played GK throughout most of my bassplaying career and am a faithful supporter...I can't wait to see the new Fusion 550. If it doesn't come out though, I think GB will be my next amp. Dan
Members james on bass Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 The Fusion is still not out?!? I played a GK800RB for a lot of years. I really loved it, loved the tone, but it was time to try something else out after 15 years. If I had the $, it definitely would have stayed with me. Like you, new gear, means old gear gets sold.

No, I'm not sure what's up with the Fusion. I know there is an endorser on TB who has one and absolutely raves about the thing...biut they won't release it for some reason??I'm trying to get out of the selling gear mindset..because I've gotton rid of so much stuff that I regret, you know? I just need to be patient and realize that the stuff will be there when I save up just the same:D. I hate the fact that I have'nt been able to see a GB amp in person yet..it really urks me. I can't wait to try one out. Dan

I can't wait to try one out. It'll be a good day. I am constantly buying and selling basses, looking for the perfect instrument. I am never completely happy. And yet, I've never once thought about selling my GBE600. I've used it for death metal, funk and 'yacht rock' and it has worked in each context.

Members james on bass Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 Yeah I hear you..I think we all have stories of basses past:DDan But I love my SX's, I really do. Damn the groceries, diapers, mortage & car payments.
Members justinbass Posted October 20, 2007 Author Members Posted October 20, 2007 But I love my SX's, I really do. You should. I could play a SX jazz forever and not complain.
Members xOriginalNinjax Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 You should. I could play a SX jazz forever and not complain. I sold off all my other basses to keep my SX and Fullerton ($120 and $99 respectively) because I love their tone/playability better than anything else. And I played them SOOOO much more. If/When I get a band up and running, I'm getting another SX jazz to route the bridge pickup and put a MM in there.

That would be awesome

I'll be getting another one to route out...I love the one as it is too much! No need messing with it, right?
Members justinbass Posted October 20, 2007 Author Members Posted October 20, 2007 Awesome. I told you, when I brought that one home, I didn't want to part with it. It played so damn good stock. I am thrilled to hear it is getting the attention it deserves.

I mean, heck, Kindness has worked on it with me, so it's I've found some of the tones I've ALWAYS looked for in it too, which ROCKS. You have NO idea how much I still appreciate that...even though it's been HOW long ago? haha.

I love those days when your out and you assemble the "perfect rig." I felt like that playing Kindness's Thunderfunk thru Rummy's Aggie 1x12. Another one was the V4b thru a new Boogie 1x12. Not to mention the Peavey Classic 400/Berg HT112, and MB LMII/Peavey Tour Series stack rigs that led to my current rig.
Members Poltergeist Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 i wish i had a 800RB... its up there with the best cabs i have ever head... but im gonna buy a 1001RBII, cose in europe it is actually CHEAPER then the 800RB, and it has more power and voicing filters, etc., and since i play mostly 5 stringers, its better for me... i will be the owner of a 800RB someday, though... i love them to death...
Members been_effected Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 Congrats bro... I was just finally happy that last night at our gig, by some small miracle, my rig sounded fantastic. Somehow everything that had been annoying me at practice disappeared, and I got fantastic, ballsy, midsy growl. Was so happy *phew* but yeah, +1 to the 800RB, I'd love to own one too
Members dravenzouk Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 Back in the day, my rig was an 800RB into a single 15" and a dual 10". Loved it. Had it dialed in exactly for "my sound". Had a lot of great years standing in front of that thing, but somewhere along the way I moved on and it became something that I used to have. Fast forward a dozen years or so - I was coming out of a dormant period, got into a new band, and wanted to recapture those good old days. Found another 800RB and plugged back in - still loved it. But I also realized that times had changed and there were a lot of interesting newer possibilities. I decided to check some of them out. Tried a lot of the more current offerings. When I came to the GenzBenz NeoX400-112T I just fell in love. I bought one and coupled it with an Epifani NY12". Blows away my old rig in every way. Much better. Funny thing is, I've still got the 800RB. Can't seem to part with it, for sentimental reasons I guess. I don't, however, get much of an urge to plug it in anymore; it just sits there. I justify it by telling myself it's a backup.
Members Crescent Seven Posted October 20, 2007 Members Posted October 20, 2007 The 800rb is one of those things that I don't need, but if I find myself in a situation where I have the money and the deal is right, I'll snap it up like virgin {censored}. Then I'll go break into RyCLB's garage and get the 1820 back, because that cab and the 800rb are a match made in Wichita. C7
