Members Bassplayer4God Posted October 24, 2007 Members Posted October 24, 2007 So im thinken about buying a Fender Jazz bass. Probably just a standard bc im short on cash but put a Leo Quan BAII bridge on it then maybe some new pickups. Which jazz pickups would yall recommend or are the stock pickups that come in it good? Thanks
Members bpocall Posted October 24, 2007 Members Posted October 24, 2007 Try the stock pickups and see if you like them. If not, I my Nordstrand NJ4's.
Moderators Kindness Posted October 24, 2007 Moderators Posted October 24, 2007 I would leave the standard pickups and use a Gotoh 2001 bridge.
Members Captain Fathead Posted October 24, 2007 Members Posted October 24, 2007 Switch out the pots before you switch out the pickups.

Moderators Kindness Posted October 24, 2007 Moderators Posted October 24, 2007 Switch out the pots before you switch out the pickups. All of MIMs that I've worked on had CTS pots. No need to switch out those.
Members justinbass Posted October 24, 2007 Members Posted October 24, 2007 If you can find one, grab a new highway 1 jazz bass. They come with a bad ass II bridge, stock.
Members Bassplayer4God Posted October 24, 2007 Author Members Posted October 24, 2007 How do some of these new modified Squire jazz basses compare to the MIM basses? Then if theres a big difference what could be added to the Squires to make them sound like the MIM's bc some of these Squire's look really nice!

They are a good back-for-the-buck bass.
