Members monark
The Dexter books are all good (well, the first 2 are. I haven't gotten the 3rd yet). If you want good "long reads", try:Stephen King's Dark Tower Series (7 books)Harry Potter Series (Also 7 books, I'm on the last one now and have enjoyed them all...) Members bleepo
"Get in the van" by Henry Rollins. {censored}ing cool read about when Punk was Punk.Dan I like the Rollins stuff, but there are long stretches in all of his books that are just paraniod ranting. I'm reading some Hunter S. Thompson at the moment. I'd reccommend it. I've read the Great Shark Hunt and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... Currently reading Hells Anglels. Members Svi
Anything by Chuck Palahniuk. I started with "Lullaby" and then moved on to "Survivor" and "Haunted"...still haven't read Fight Club yet. His stuff is twisted. I've heard "Choke" is pretty good too. Members stevenr
I'm surprised 1984 makes so many folks' lists. I found the character so alienating (almost as much as he feels alienated). He seemed more like a vehicle for the ideas, rather than somebody I could ever know. Of course, that's essential to the flavor of the book---but also why it's never been on a perennial cycle.
Members nicebigstrings
Sea of Faith - by Stephen O'Shea Incredibly written history dealing with the intricacies, clashes and collaborations between Christianity and Islam throughout the Middle Ages. The chapter on the siege of Malta is worth the price alone.
Members chunky-b
Great combination of a travelogue, history of getting into the music bidness, personal flashbacks of growing up / introspective of how he got where he is, and very entertaining stories of adventure... Members SpaceGhost
I'm reading some Hunter S. Thompson at the moment. I'd reccommend it. I've read the Great Shark Hunt and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... Currently reading Hells Anglels. The Great Shark Hunt is excellent but more for those who dig Hunter in general. Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, though, is classic. Not a whole lot of, "weee I'm doing drugs weeee" and a whole lot of interesting political commentary.
