Members Derek5272
Any suggestions? I want to get a combo amp, no more than $600 CAD. I'm going to L&M tomorrow to look at some Fenders, Ampegs, and GKs, but don't know what else I should be looking at. Members bendafender
Depends on your intended purpose (gigging, practice, bedroom). I'm happy with my Fender Bassman 150 for small gigs. Makes a good practice amp too.

Members Rob Martinez
Get an Ampeg B200R or at LEAST an Ampeg B100R, they are AMAZING and look soooooooo cool!
Members Roguetitan
Peavey.I would have said Mesa but you wont touch anything they make for 6 Benjimins
Members Derek5272
Yeah, forgot to mention something in the neighborhood of 200W so it can hold up if I ever gig.
Members lyricpoet
What's wrong with the Ampeg--->Avatar set up?
Members Derek5272
For starters, it's far too large for my no-car situation. Also, one of the speakers blew a couple days ago and the other's not far behind.
Members lyricpoet
My suggestion: SWR WorkingPro Combo amp (used to be called WorkingMan- guess the wimmin didn't like it): either the 2X10C or the 15.
Members Low Tone
It's too bad they don't carry Crate because I would have suggested the new BT220. I can't get over how much their sound has improved with these amps. If they have Yorkville, I'd suggest a BassMaster XM200 or XM200T combo
Members hans_the_double
i love my ampeg ba112, but it's way underpowered for gigging. try out a 115 and see how it fits.
Members T. Alan Smith
At least a Peavey TNT, but with your budget, check out the Ampeg B100R. [ drool... ]
Members Phantasm
Line 6 makes the Lowdown combos, these are fairly versatile and in your price range. There's a 300W model. I have the Studio 110 as a practice amp and it works for me.
Members Poltergeist
save up a little and buy a GK 700/1001RBII cab and a 2x10/4x10 GK Goldline, which an amazing and pretty cheap cab... i bet you'd be alot more satisfied! (i'm saying this, since you already have a combo amp)..... if you really want a combo try to get a Roland one...
Members Derek5272
I dunno where you're getting that I have a combo amp. I have an amp head and a speaker cabinet in my sig, no combos. I want a combo so it's easier to move around (1 60 lbs-ish piece instead of 1 80 lbs and 1 20 lbs) and takes up less space. Members hawkhuff
GK's get a lot of thumbs up on the HCBF. It will more than likely be my next combo.
Members Derek5272
Yeah... To get my door to open noticeably more than it does right now, I think I'm looking at a Traynor/Yorkville XM200C or XM200CT, or a GK Backline 210 on its side. Backline does nothing for me, personally...but you can't really go wrong with the Yorkville stuff. If you want something to keep up in a rock band-type setting, get at least a 15" driver with at least 100W. Otherwise, I'd go with a nice combo with a 12" driver. Members xbassman
For starters, it's far too large for my no-car situation. Also, one of the speakers blew a couple days ago and the other's not far behind. Ya know...most guys blow speakers from driving their amp too hard. That the case? I've got a 69lb Ashdown combo (that my daughter is using) and a GK/ DR. Bass head/cab setup. Between those the head/cab setup is MUCH easier to haul around. If that head has enough power, I would consider looking for a lightweight cab to pair it with.
Members B-Bottom
200 watts and 57 lbs. Should be within your budget: http://www.traynoramps.com/products.asp?id=371&cat=64&type=7 that's what I have and it rocks. I use my combo at the guitards practice space and my big amp and cabs at mine. So when I heard he bough an Ampeg 350 something or other and an Ampeg 2x12 cab I was pumped to see how it matched against my Yorkville. Well let me tell you, the Yorkville murdered it. It's louder, sounds better and is a {censored} ton easier to move around.

Gain at 1/2, master at 1/4, playing my guitar through it with the pickup volume at about 6. Don't think I was driving it too hard.
