Members bassman1956 Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 ... with these write-ups preceding it. I found it facinating that she took such a prominent and vocal stand. The woman is Wafa Sultan. I have to say, I mostly agree with her, and althogh I have talked with many that share this concern, it certainly doesn't seem to get much coverage. ===================================================== Hi all, This is an amazing discussion from an Arab-American psychologist in LA. As Jazeera is likely to take it off the air as soon as they can. She talks about terrorism being a clash between an old civilization and a new civilization. And, the timing is perfect -- the eve of Yom Kippur as she talks about what the Jews have done for the world. And, she suggest what Muslims should do to be "heard". http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214&ar=1050wmv&ak=nul WATCH THIS BEFORE IT'S TAKEN OFF THE WEB!!One impressive woman Here is a powerful and amazing statement on Al Jazeera television. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles. I would suggest watching it ASAP because I don't know how long the link will be active. This film clip should be shown around the world repeatedly! http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm. asp?ai=214&ar=1050wmv&ak=nul

Members bassman1956 Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 Already gone! Click on the link and it re-routes you back. What did she say? Are you sure? Both take me to loading a video (Windows Media Player, but still, something should come up in yours...) She says how it is a battle between midieval phylosophy and modern phylosophy, between might-is-right vs democracy, human bondage vs human rights. And how it starts due to being based in Islamic text. And then points out other religions don't go around blowing up Islamic mosques and cities and such because they don't like the religion. Worth getting the link to work, I think. I like the fact I'm not being fed a bunch of PC bull{censored} just so an american news company doesn't have to worry about polls or lawsuits.
Members __tony__renaud Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 It works - It'll kick you back here, but it opened up in Windows Media Player for me as streaming media. Sometimes the phrase "you go girl" is appropriate. It is here.....
Members Crescent Seven Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 I like the reactions of the men; she makes a solid, valid point in a clear and concise manner. They call her a heretic and refuse to rebuke her statements because of it. Hopefully al-Jazeera plays this over and over and over and over again. Unfortunately, they can't because somebody will come into their offices strapped with explosives and kill everyone. C7
Members collinwho Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 I found what she was saying very interesting. Unfortunately, the only thing I could think the entire time I was watching it was "I wonder how long until she is assasinated?"

Members Westsailor Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Which would ironically prove her point. Did you catch the irony of: Wafa Sultan: I am not a Christian, A Muslim or a Jew. But I respect others right to believe in it. Imam: Are you a heretic? Wafa Sultan: You can say whatever you like. I am a secular human being who does not believe in the supernatural. Imam: If you are a heretic there is no point in rebuking you since you have blasphemed against Islam, the Prophet and the Koran. Wafa Sultan: Brother, you can believe in stones, as long as you don't throw them at me. I don't know if that was intended as an insult but if it was it was absolutely mensa brilliant. I don't see how this is controversial. It is purely inarguable rational vs irrational thought. I would, however, advise her not to leave LA and take any speaking engagements in Baghdad.
Members Perfessor Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 That lady sure shut up that guy in the funny hat!
Members hawkhuff Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 All I can say is very interesting but if they take it off Al Jazeera it won't appear anywhere else, especially here in the US. You can put her presentation on Islam today into one sentence. Islam is not a religion of peace due to the hijacking of the fundamentalists. This is an ever present danger in any religion.

And very much the point! As of this morning, it's still loading, so let's hope it stays up.

Well, I saved it locally, so it will appear on YouTube eventually . . . but beyond that, I'm sure you are right, which is unfortunate as well.
Members hawkhuff Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 I cannot understand for the life of me why people allow their women to have clitorectomies. WTF? It is beyond bizarre. It is also beyond reason why anyone would tolerate women being stoned to death. It is beyond reason to me why Columbia allowed akmahdidinidjad to speak, especially when he told the crowd there are NO homosexuals in Iran. From that video it appears most knew exactly what he meant. And the neo-progressive press continues to bury the truth about islam.
Members Roguetitan Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 every word this woman spoke is spot on! would it be safe to say she is probably targeted for assassination by the moslims?
Members hawkhuff Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 every word this woman spoke is spot on! would it be safe to say she is probably targeted for assassination by the moslims? Islamists are in a constant state of outrage about something. That said, if this ever gets coverage in the Middleast, her death will be a foregone conclusion. Especially because she is of the less noble gender.

He made a complete and utter fool of himself in front of the whole world, with no editing or touching up that invariably takes place if he appears on tv in Iran. Fantastic. "Have some free speech, like that bitch? huh?" As for the lady on TV, {censored}ing awsome. She totally buried that lunatic. However, this is pretty old. It's been around for quite a while, maybe even a year or so. Look it up.

Members hans_the_double Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 not saying ahmadinejad isn't totally bat{censored} insane, but to be fair, mohammad khatami was marginally less bat{censored} insane, and we alienated iran just as badly.
Members NeonVomit Posted October 30, 2007 Members Posted October 30, 2007 Do you think Iranian government allowed his entire interview to be viewed by the masses in Iran? I don't. Of course not. But the rest of the world rarely gets a chance to see him undedited. It was great fun and proof to those few who still doubted his craziness.

I doubt it changed the minds of those who sell the Iranian's uranium enrichment and other nuclear supplies. You know what they say, money talks and bull{censored} walks. He may have a load of bull{censored} but he also has the bucks.
