Members Low Tone Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 If you haven't listened to his new CD, "Revival," yet then you should. It's been over a week now and it's still going in my car stereo.
Members dDigitalPimp Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 i heard a newer song by him maybe a year ago and it sounded like a mark knopfler(sp)/dire straits rip-off.
Members Pickdust Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 CCR is some of the first songs I played in a band when I was.................um....................14? Have always loved his stuff! Gotta order that CD!
Members chubrocker Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 i heard a newer song by him maybe a year ago and it sounded like a mark knopfler(sp)/dire straits rip-off. Hmmm. Interesting. I always kinda viewed Dire Straits as a CCR rip-off. :poke:
Members rummy Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Haven't heard the new CD, but been listening to CCR since I was 1 when my mom used to blast them.
Members misterhinkydink Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Great album from a talented guy. I saw him last summer and he rocked like a 20 year old. One of the best shows ever. :thu::thu:

Members Low Tone Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 Seriously, what's good about it? Last couple he released were country western styled. Nothing like CCR. There are a couple country twanged tunes but the CCR vibe comes through on a few of the songs as well. "Long Dark Night" is a modern "Run Through the Jungle. " "Creedence Song," sounds like.....well.... a Creedence song. "Summer of Love" sounds like Jimmy Hendrix joined Creedence. Overall, it's a very eclectic and well done album. John sounds like John again since he has signed back to CCR's old record label and isn't afraid of getting sued for plagerising himself again. Oh... and if you think CCR didn't have a country influence, I'd suggest going back and listening to them again. Doo Doo Doo Lookin' out my back door..........
Members B-Bottom Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 Seriously, what's good about it? Last couple he released were country western styled. Nothing like CCR. Almost everything he's released since CCR has been country. Which doesn't bother me much because he's still one of my all time favorites (despite his misguided political beliefs ) The fire and grit that he had when he was in CCR has been gone for a very very long time. That being said, his Blue Ridge Rangers album is still one of my favorites. His cover of Hank Williams "Jambalaya on the Bayou" is so badass
Members Psilocybin Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 I would love to see him play Ramble Tamble live.
Members Low Tone Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 The fire and grit that he had when he was in CCR has been gone for a very very long time. If you believe that, you need to hear this album.
Members Psilocybin Posted October 29, 2007 Members Posted October 29, 2007 The fire and grit that he had when he was in CCR has been gone for a very very long time. Yeah. He is a great guitarist but his vocals are the thing I miss from CCR. No fault against him, you can't keep singing like that forever.

Members Low Tone Posted October 29, 2007 Author Members Posted October 29, 2007 I'll check it out because I have always dug Fogerty. But after the last one I'm not going to get my hopes up. Trust me.This is the old John. Although, "The River Is Waiting," sounds almost Reggae. Not sure what's up with that. Still a great tune though.

Members hawkhuff Posted October 31, 2007 Members Posted October 31, 2007 if hawkhuff digs it than I will have to check it out It definitely is Creedence-esque. Good vocals and guitar work.
