Ooo lala.

My very first tube bass amp. I love it already and have only toyed with it for about 30 minutes with only my jazz bass.

I do have some questions, though!

1. On the back are two 4-ohm inputs and two 8-ohm inputs. However, above each section there is a single input. Are those extra inputs respective to their power (4/8)?

2. What are some settings I should try? I play mostly punk, and right now I have the EQ as shown, and through my Avatar 2x10 it's sounding nice, but I'll be playing it through my Ampeg 8x10 tomorrow.

3. When I turn on the standby switch, I get a couple popping noises but nothing alarming. Is that typical? I'm asking in case it's an echo of a larger problem.

Thanks for looking! Time to get a rocking.

If the power is on for a minute and then you flip the standby, you will get a pop as current is applied to the tubes. It should more or less be a single pop though. The kind you get from flipping on an amp.

Awesome, phew!

Thanks, everyone! I'm really excited... Gonna change the strings on my P before practice tomorrow, and see how the bad boy responds.

You cant get much better then that bad-boy paired with an 8x10!
Now how much does that thing weigh again?
;)

Haha, I'd say around 60 with case? Maybe a bit more. But the case is deep, about 18 inches, so the weight is all at the front. I'm going to be getting a shock case soon for it, so it'll get even heavier.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet.

Just don't run it without a cab plugged in. Like, when you're replacing tubes, and biasing ands tuff.

I think my settings are:

Mid: 6

Bass: 8

Treble: 7

I set the Master volume at about 5 or 6.

Volume two controls my main volume and is pulled out for "bright."

EQ is a bit similar to the pictures, although with a little more mid scooped out and maybe a bit more bass and treble added. Every now and then I tweak it a bit and get it to sound better.

I tend to go for a bright treble sound while keeping a good low end (ie; "The Rickenbacker Sound"), which I guess is also good for a punk sound. I guess the bass sound on "A Flight and a Crash" would be semi-approximate to my sound, if you know what I mean. ;) (I have a Hot Water Music tattoo...)

That's awesome. I would love to rock one of those some day.

Yo.

Me too!

But I would need the right cab... something like a 1516BE Diesel?

if i remember correctly (it's been a few weeks since i last saw mine) the "extra inputs" you're talking about are actually the 2 ohm outputs. the pairs on the back are for 8 or 4 ohm operation, the ones on the top portion of the back are for 2 ohm operation.

in case you need it, here's a link to the owner's manual.
