My wife has had similar problems.

She has been a housewife for most of her adult life and now that she's trying to get back into the workforce, the few jobs she has had have been sporradic. It didn't help after she left McDonald's, they started badmouthing her to other prospective employees either.

She just started working for a new restaraunt in town though so hopefully that goes well. She should also be finishing up school next spring and get her degree for medical office administration. Hopefully with that she will find something a little better.

Just tell them you've been a full-time musician. But you're looking for something better.

The gaps are then explained, understandable, and since you're trying to better your lot, quite possibly excusable.

Not trying to mess with you here. Honest, it just might work.

thanx, i thought of that. i just hope they don't find out. they'll say, "hmm... i've never heard of that band?" just hope that they don't look into to it i guess.:freak:

It may also help to be confident in yourself when you land interviews. If you're asked about the gaps, don't look at it like you're being grilled. Look at it as a chance to show them what you've learned in those periods. Not necessarily about job stuff either. Just about life.

You're not always selling your abilities to a prospective employer. Many times, you're selling yourself.

Lots of people have gaps in employment for lots of reasons. Tried to start a business... recovering alcoholic... family is sick... went back to school... etc. Those are all perfectly good reasons that usually lead to a much stronger and smarter person.

Of course, some people have gaps in employments just because they're lazy assholes. If that's you... make something up. :D
