Just saw the trailer for "The Golden Compass"

I might have to break one of my rules on this. Generally, I never watch a movie before reading the book, but I also have a pile of books in my "To Read" pile, and, as a rule, I never move anything up in the pile, anything new gets put on the bottom.

My "To Read" Pile is in my cupboard, and contains like 100 books, haha.

That's the most ignorant statement I've ever heard anyone make.

 

 

I can kinda understand where G?????? is coming from as the LOTR movies needed to drop lots from the books in order to fit into a US attention span length movie. Certain stories like the events leading up to meeting Tom Bombadihl just disappeared. The books were so dense it'd probably take 9 hours to do a meaningful screen adaptation of "The Fellowship of the Ring" by itself.

 

That being said, I still found the movies entertaining. I'm certainly glad I read the books first though.
