Members bassesofalessergod Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 There should be some kind of dealio regarding that..... obviously they cant make it a rule because then bad sellers could just never leave feedback and you wouldnt have the chance to respond. but seriously, WTF?
Members Super Bass Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 The system doesn't work. I left neutral feedback for a guy in Scotland and he left me negative. He was messing me around and made up some stupid excuse about not sending the thing. It took a month for him to send a guitar nut to me by regular mail. The actual time it took from Scotland to Ireland was about 2 days! The guy got booted off eBay the next week and I'm stuck with negative feedback.
Members bassesofalessergod Posted November 7, 2007 Author Members Posted November 7, 2007 yeah man, that's wack.
Members misterhinkydink Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 The only feedback that matters is the negative. It's true the system doesn't work well.
Members bholder Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 Sheesh - if someone gets tossed off ebay, all feedback they had left should vanish.
Members brake Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 I got stuck with a negative feedback after some idiot didn't send me a shirt. Found out he'd done this to a ton of other people and we all got him booted off of ebay. His name is jimmysrocknroll if anyone happens to be dealing with him... just stop.
Members Super Bass Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 Sheesh - if someone gets tossed off ebay, all feedback they had left should vanish. I agree, do you think eBay could remove it for me? I doubt it though.
Members ezstep Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 yeah man, that's wack. *sprays coffee over computer monitor*
Members skatalite Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 It's called holding feedback hostage. Happens way too much and I've tried getting people to get eBay to respond to it, but nothing happens.
Members Mytola Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 Sheesh - if someone gets tossed off ebay, all feedback they had left should vanish. I agree. I haven't had any problems yet, after about 30 transactions. A book from the UK did get lost in the mail, but I got a refund right away (incl. postage) from the seller, even without asking for it. I really apreciated that. The feedback system isn't working too well though.
Members allan grossman Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 As a seller I *never* leave feedback until the buyer does. I want the buyer satisfied before feedback is exchanged.
Members FNBand Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 As a seller, I usually always wait till the buyer receives the shipment and is happy with it before I leave feedback. If I leave feedback early it opens the oppurtunity for the buyer to hammer me about all kinds of crap, I've heard plenty of it. Once I leave feedback on a buyer, there's nothing I can do to make him look bad if he tries to screw me around. If a guy leaves me negative feedback I can at least reply to it and it is seen by other potential buyers. I have over 750 ratings from different buyers and they are all positive except for 2 neutrals - so it's not like I'm evil or untrustworthy, just how I do my business.
Members fretless Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 from their rules "While leaving Feedback is voluntary, eBay encourages all members to leave Feedback after each transaction is complete. There are different philosophies on whether the buyer or seller should leave Feedback first. Each member may choose the best approach to leaving Feedback for them." IMOpaying the money on time is a complete transaction on the buyers part and deserves feedback given right away .
Members allan grossman Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 ...IMOpaying the money on time is a complete transaction on the buyers part and deserves feedback given right away . What happens if the item is damaged in transit?
Members FNBand Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 ...or the buyer opens it, then decides he doesnt want it and demands a full refund plus money to ship it back to you or he'll ruin your perfect feedback
Members FNBand Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 Having a perfect feedback rating is like a big target to some shady buyers. They will try to hold you by the short hairs and get all kinds of extras thinking that you will give in just to keep your perfect rating. I thought about having a friend leave me some negative feedback just so they will quit using that as leverage.
Members WillPlay4food Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 What happens if the item is damaged in transit? That doesn't change the fact the buyer paid you in full upfront. The buyer should get feedback relating to the fact he held up his end of the bargain and paid you in a timely fashion. I've only been on the buying end and I've only gotten feedback from about 50% of the purchases I've made. Combine that with the fact a couple of my purchases are from ex-members and I only have a 2 or 3 rating which has caused problems when I've gone to bid on stuff.
Members bassesofalessergod Posted November 7, 2007 Author Members Posted November 7, 2007 IMOpaying the money on time is a complete transaction on the buyers part and deserves feedback given right away . exactly 100% correct.

That's it ( in a perfect world ) everything else is the risks of ebaying with tards , I understand though Allan , I personally swore off Ebay a few years back , for many reasons . I am a 50/50 buyer/seller with 85 perfect feedbacks until last March when I sold a bunch of instruments/gear worth over $2000. It was like a conspiracy of eBay killers who bought my stuff and actually took pleasure in holding me by the short hairs over the littlest detail. In the end I received three negative feedbacks which I countered with reasonable explanation, but how effective is that? What I learned: never put up a lot of stuff worth a lot of dough at once. eBay encourages these evil minded souls by automatically saying "see what else this seller has to offer!" I think eBay should have that at best as an option to the seller, not an automatic. Because of this, for now I am done with the 'bay:mad:.

Members chunky-b Posted November 7, 2007 Members Posted November 7, 2007 I am starting to think that some people get hooked on ebay and live their lives according to their feedback. I am waiting to meet someone and they introduce themselves like, "Hello, my name is Bob and I have 95% positive feedback on ebay." WTF? ? ?
