Members J.
All of you vintage country fans will know who I'm talking about. The guy was huge in his day, with 29 top ten hits on the country charts during his career. I was fortunate enough to see him the summer before last when he performed at the MN State Fair. http://www.cmt.com/news/articles/1573692/20071107/thompson_hank.jhtml I find it absolute perplexing that country artists who were absolutely HUGE stars in their day are virtually unknown now. Some are still well known (Hank Williams, Johhny Cash, Patsy Cline, etc) but a lot of them who were even bigger stars than the aforementioned have no name recognition anymore. I mean, who here knows who Eddy Arnold is? Anyway, RIP Hank Thompson. He was one of a kind. I encourage all of you to check his music out if you haven't already. Here's an inexpensive way to get into his material.

Members frunobulax
this needs to be bumped. Hank was a giant of honky tonk country western music. he had the incomparable Merle Travis in his band. if you want to hear the real deal in country music, pick up some Hank from the 60's clasic stuff. Members PaulyWally
When people ask me if I like Hank... I say, "Which one?" HT is one of my favorite old Honky Tonkers. And in honor of his passing on... I would like to sing a song that I feel he would have appreciated at this time: Hey, Mister BartenderPlease don't be so slowI got time for one more roundAnd a six-pack to go Tomorrow mornin's SundayI'm gonna be feelin' lowSo please, please BartenderI want a six-pack to go I've been a-drinkin' all day longTakin' in the townI've done spent my whole paycheckJust-a honky-tonkin' round I don't have enough to pay my rentI ain't gonna worry thoughI got time for one more roundAnd a six-pack to go Hey, Mister BartenderPlease don't be so slowI got time for one more roundAnd a six-pack to go Tomorrow mornin's SundayI'm gonna be feeling lowSo please, please BartenderI want a six-pack to go I've been a-drinkin' all day longTakin' in the townI've done spent my whole paycheckJust-a honky-tonkin' round Well, I don't have enough to pay my rentI ain't gonna worry thoughI got time for one more roundAnd a six-pack to go ONE SIX-PACK TO GO!
