Members funkrockfreedomfighter
So you can A B them ? Sure. I don't live in LB any more, but I still work here every day, so I'm always in the neighborhood. Sounds great, I'll PM you when I get back from Thanksgiving break. Members Rickenbrother
I've been gigging with a SM-400 since 1990. I've never had a problem with it and it sounds great. I'll take it over any bass amp.

I'll take it over any bass amp. I've had issues twice with mine. It blew up a month after I got it; apparently the previous owner felt it necessary to fix something himself and in the process disable a fan . Then, a few years later it blew up again. I took it into a place and a repair man, who was trained in the army, rebuilt the sketchy parts of the amp to military spec . Sounds great right now, I love it. Members Rusty the Scoob
The biggest problem with the Fender era SWR heads is the {censored}ty Groove-Tube tube it comes with, IMHO. I've replaced the tube in my old SM-400 and my new (5 years ago) Redhead and it does a world of good. Changes them from Meh to Wow!

I think I've got either a Svetlana or a Sovtek in my Red Head, but I don't remember for sure. IIRC, the Groove Tube is just a rebadged Sovtek.
