Members #6
anyone know if what enabled them to do this was a commercial item, or just something they had made?
Members guitargod0dmw
just something they had made? Bingo. I would think that it was a belt buckle designed specifically with that idea in mind. Some sort of thing on the guitar/bass that plugged into it...and shazham! Spinning instrument... Members PaulyWally
a hundred bucks for novelty...i think not... If I found one in a store, I would try it. I saw Buddy Guy in January, and his (rhythm) guitard had one. It looked like it put his guitar in a VERY comfortable position to play. On the downside, it looks like it's basically confined to that one position.

Members ministryoflower
a 3-5" lazy susan bearing available at most hardware stores for about $6.00 double-face taped (or preferably screwed)to the back of your novelty bass will do the job..... Of course you will also need a wireless unit and a solid belt and buckle or over the shoulder harness to complete the rig....

Of course you will also need a wireless unit and a solid belt and buckle or over the shoulder harness to complete the rig.... Just use a belt from a tool bag, the kind that clips in the back, and DON'T use double sided tape. Buy a Fullerton bass and screw the bearing assembly into the back, but make sure that it's directly in the center of the bass, INCLUDING the neck. You'd feel like an asshole if you spun it and the headstock hit the floor and broke off. ;D C7
Members ministryoflower
You just have to lean back to compensate for the neck in a ...look how cool we can be moment...a la ZZ TOP ...because you are soo right...you would really look like an asshole, crying, pickin' up your mangled headstock..... Members Johnny_Crab
Tell me about those whit furry Dean guitars in ZZ Top's "Legs" video -- the ones that spun around 360s on their belts. That's real sheepskin on those guitars! Billy Gibbons was at a party with Def Leppard in London, and he called me at like two in the morning. Billy said he was shipping me some sheepskins and he wanted them on a Dean guitar! So I said fine, and a week later the sheepskins show up at my factory, and I made a guitar and a bass. We used a horse-hair trimmer -- I was dating a girl who trained horses at the time -- and we trimmed the sheepskin under the strings. Then Billy and (ZZ Top bassist) Dusty Hill wanted the spinning units on them. I never knew hat set of guitars would become so famous. http://www.deanguitars.com/articles/worlddean.htmhttp://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=162161 MF: Were you involved with the guitars spinning on the band's belts, or was that something that was done in the filming?DZ: No, I was involved with that. I found these special casters that would let them rotate. http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:due63KUk16kJ:www.musiciansfriend.com/document%3Fdoc_id%3D82264+%22spinning+guitars%22+%22ZZ+Top%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=12&gl=us Here's a source: http://www.wittman-spins.com/whatsay.html Video Spins at 1:50, 3:03,
