Members KeroseneTrewthe
Who here has modded their SX Jazz bass with pickups? Im most likely going to mod my SX all to heck when I get it, and would like to have the stuff in hand when it arrives. Im looking for pickups that I wont have to route the bass to make em fit. Dont know if I'll get lucky in not routing.
Members mrcrow
wait and see...iirc some jazz copies used the same pup for bridge and necka stock matched jazz set will fit the neck but the bridge rout on the SX may need widening..just a guess..can you measure them in a shop...the bridge is about 2-3mm wider
Moderators Kindness Posted November 30, 2007 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2007 Someone can measure the pickups and give you the routes. If I remember, I can measure y-o-y's tonight.
Members L-1329
Best to measure first. Look at the Warmoth site to find the different configurations and measurements for Fender sized jazz pup's, they are not all the same and some are even different sizes from the bridge to neck. Members Thumper
I dropped a pair of Duncan SJB1s right into my SX. They were a perfect fit.

Mine has a set of DiMarzio Ultra Jazz which did not require any routing.
Moderators Kindness Posted November 30, 2007 Moderators Share Posted November 30, 2007 Mine has a set of DiMarzio Ultra Jazz which did not require any routing. I was 95% sure they are standard 91mm + 94mm pickups.
Members texasbassplayer
I was happy with the pickups in my SX Jazz, but the bridge p/u died so I replaced both with some SD Quarter Pounders I had around.

Want a free pre-wired series/parallel control plate to go with that? I have a spare one lying around gathering dust.

Members Apendecto
If SD Quarter Pounders are a sound I like for the P, what is a good comparison to a J pickup? I heard the Jazz Quarter Pounders just aren't the same as their P brother. Did I just say P brother.... Yo.
