Members KahlerWillits
I bought that Peavey cab I asked about. It sounds nice. But I'm not sure if it's 8 or 4 ohms. The guys at the store were clueless, the thing on the back is scratched off.How can I figure out what ohms it is?If it's 4 I need to take it back because I can't use it with my other cab...And I need to find this out quick! Thanks guys. BTW: it's a 4x10

I use a multi meter. a 4 Ohm speaker will read about 3.4- 3.6 Ohms an 8 Ohm speaker will be 6.8- 7.2 give or take a little. If it's a 115 and has the stock speaker it's 8 Ohm. Members KahlerWillits
Um... I don't know what a multi meter is.I should mention it's a 4x10...Is there a way I can open it up and check the speakers/wires?
Members jannda
you can go to radio shack and get one for about 10 bucks or take a speaker out and see if it says how many ohms it is and let us know or give us the numbers on the speakers. my guess would be it's an 8 0hm but it could have been changed. Members KahlerWillits
The speakers are 16 ohms. So what's the verdict?

Members jannda
If that amp is 2 ohm stable you can still use that cab your total load would be about 3 ohms if not you can rewire the cab for 16 ohms with a 8 ohm cab it will be about 10 or 12 ohms. Members KahlerWillits
The GK only goes down to 4 ohms. ...Right?

Members Bluescout
Personally, if it was cheap enough I'd keep it so you can play a gig with 1 cab but get that 4 ohm power out of the amp. You'll get tired of hauling 2 cabs sooner or later.
Members 2tall
A 4 ohm 4x10 cab is a great cab for that amp.Does that not give you enough stage volume? I have the same amp, and use a 2x10 and 1x15, both 8 ohm, or sometimes just the 2x10. Does a great job.
