Members Chairborne
$425 with HSC at the pawn shop. I already have a USA P-bass, MIM P-bass and several other basses. Think I should jump on this thing? Let me know in the next 30 minutes before I run down to the pawn shop. If I do . . .
Members Undead Sycip
Do it. It's 90% a Stingray without the fancy finish. Made in the same factory as the other MM basses.
Members Chairborne
Never played a real 'Ray. Played this unplugged, felt nice, but not substantially different from my Precisions. Dunno what it sounds like, but I know there's a large contingent of MusicMan fans who say it sounds like nothing else.

It sounds like the first Rage Against the Machine album and the bass lines in RHCP's Aeroplane and Sade's Smooth Operator.
Members sunburstbasser
They do an excellent impression of a full-blow Stingray. Get it.

Members Chairborne
Well hey george - still digging the MIM P you sold me awhile back. For some reason the action went all floppy with the strings somehow lowering themselves to the fretboard but I pulled the neck and shimmed it and it plays - once again - like a champ. Strange thing but easily fixed. This bass looks not unlike that - with the flat black finish and all.

I'm glad you like it - I'm thinking of painting up another bass like that - the black textured look got alot of compliments while I had it... As for the action - because they lack the graphite rods of the MIA necks, sometimes lower end Fenders like those require more frequent tweaking of the trussrod... Also, because of the way I prefer my set-ups, when my strings get beat they start getting a bit buzzy - I wouldn't have guessed that it would require shimming, but hey - whatever works... - georgestrings

Members Chairborne
Well I imagine you guys have seen these things before, but here ya go! As for the case, it is made by "kases" and is heavy as hell.

Members GRANKOR
I hate the pickguard on subs, if it was mine I'd buy a proper Stingray one to replace it
Members georgestrings
I like it - and I notice the finish isn't all that different from the P Bass I sold you - cool.... - georgestrings
Members blueyedmule
Is it an active or passive SUB? I played both and would not have bought the passive new; the active SUB on the other hand was just sweetness personified. Pure bass goodness. It was love at first bite! So she followed me home. Members Chairborne
I dunno. There appears to be no "easy" place to put a battery without removing a whole bunch of screws, so I am gonna say it is passive. If it's active, where would the battery go? Members pbass_groovin
I prefer the finish on the SUBs to the regular Stingrays. I get tired of gloss finishes.
