I got my Musicman SUB Sterling in January 2007, and surprisingly enough that is all the gear I bought (a mix of being really happy with what I own and picking up a new camera habit)

I absolutely love it, half the size and much easier and more comfortable to handle compared to my jazz, plus it sounds fantastic, a great pickup and more than enough control for me.
It took me a good while to find (the SUB basses being a good six months out of production at that point) - in the end I took the UK dealer list, started at the top and started phoning them all in search of remaining stock. Well worth it in the end, a fantastic bass at a great price.

That finishes my bass collection for now - the Sterling sitting next to a MIM Fender Jazz

MIJ Fender '51 P-bass reissue in two tone sunburst. It's got as few moving parts as possible and still be a bass. I love the maple neck and board, and the ash body is light and resonant. It has a brighter, more aggressive tone than the more modern P. I replaced the bridge saddles with brass ones from Wilkinson, which help with the intonation.

Epi Jack Casady in metallic gold. This one is pretty simple, too, but the three position Vari-tone switch offer some nice tone options, from traditional thump to a pretty mad growl. I'm not mad about the gloss finish on the back of the neck, and it neck-dives like a mad bastage, but I love it.

MXR Phase 90. Nice, '70s sounding phase shifter. Can you say 'Stranglehold'? :D

Ibanez PD7 bass distortion. This thing is sick. Noisy, too, but it offers some nice EQ features.

MXR Flanger. Another nice retro design. You can get some pretty wild effects by cranking up the regeneration control.

For 2008: A Waterstone TP12 12 string bass.

I think I got my fretless LeCompte this year. What can I say about it except that it is perfect. Sounds as beautiful as it looks and plays.

I also think I picked up one, and possibly both of my Reverend 5L's. They rock. Period. Harder than any other bass, and so hard that they might just be a little too intimidating for the band, as well as the audience.

I also have a pile of bass parts that will hopefully soon be assembled into a sweet new P/J. It's really going to be a nice one!

Also ordered a Fulltone Bass Drive, which should be here in a day or two. Can't wait to try it out.

Traded two cabs for a Korg TR76. It's really fun, and does just what I need. I still need to put more time into learning more about it, but I like it a lot.

Bought an Alesis MultiMix 8 Firewire, and now have a complete PC based recording workstation. Don't ask me how much I've recorded with it yet though...:(

A few upgrades too. Got some Barts for the Explorer, which is getting swapped now with a different bridge and a couple other small things, and a new neck for the Warmoth guitar. Went to a constant radius and nickel frets in place of the steel ones. That also still needs to get switched.

Finally, this year I traded in the cars and bought a new Xterra to haul all the stuff around. Love it. A lot actually, it does everything I want and does it all very well. Best buy I've made yet.

No way, mine seems really solid, what happened to yours?

....I know I was raving aboot how solid it seemed when I got it, All I know is that I was at a show a couple weeks ago I set up and step on the tuner and it doesn't work, when I inspected it the battery cover stomp part was broken and the switch under it was too...it was not broken when I set up so I guess it happened when I stepped on it, I gig regularly and have dropped it a couple times from a few feet off the ground but I wouldn't say I beat on it...Maybe I just got a bum one.

It kinda sucked cause I was originally gunna get the Peterson but decided to save a hundred and just get the PWaves, ended up with the Peterson anyways...I thank my guitard is gunna try to fix the stomp hatch whatevayoucallit thang and put in one of those heavy duty exposed switch thangs...I really liked that pedal too.

...pardon my impeccable handle on part names and terminology.

1990 Ric 4003: I absolutely love the feel, sound, and worn-in look of this bass. I liked it so much that I couldn't hold back when the $1079 for a new Ric came along. I still haven't gotten that, though. The Ric I have is a little disappointing in that the electronics need a little lovin. It's gotten very noisy, and I have been too lazy to crack it open and see if I can figure out what the problem is. I've also been to cheap to take it to a pro to look at the wiring.

Rode K2 Large Diaphram Condenser Mic: Love it. Excellent for the money. Puts the SP that we were using to shame.

Sennheiser 602: Love it. Puts the Audix D-112 to shame for recording my old drummer's kick.

Presonus Firepod: Works as expected.

Fender Highway One Telecaster: Got it on a trade for a Mesa 4x12 guitar cab. It was nice, but not worth keeping. I sold it.

X2 Wireless system: Sounds great, although I haven't gotten to use it live, though. My band fell apart in the late Summer and I am just now getting back into a band that has legs. Bummer is that I'm just going to be singing...no bass or guitar.

Reaper: DAW. Love it. It's easy, intuitive, and powerful. Download it and pay for the license.

Universal Audio LA-610: Class A tube preamp. Aparently it's been used in umpteen thousand studios and on innumerable recordings in the past several decades. So far, I'm loving it for vocals and bass. I'm just figuring it out for over-driven guitar. Right out of the box, it was a significant improvement over just plugging a mic into the Firepod.

Fender American Telecaster HH: Gorgeous guitar. Plays wonderfully. I got a great deal on it from MF, too...$699. Worth living in the credit world on that one.

Edit: 2008 Gear Plans
Hopefully, Ric will make me a Mapleglo and MF will ship it to me. It's been on order since Memorial Day.

Looking to get into a Ric 360 at some point.

Hoping to find a decently-priced American Series or American Deluxe Telecaster (Single coil) with a maple board. I have 2 teles now...both rosewood boards with humbuckers. The one not pictured has Duncan Hot Rails at the bridge. I've changed the pickups so many times in that guitar that I am not doing it again. Especially since I like the Hotrails tone. I miss having the single coil tele option, though.

More studio gear...perhaps another channel strip? Perhaps a better I/O? Perhaps another LDC?

- 70s Sunn 215B Bass Cabinet with new JBL speakers (SWEET! but way too big for me)

-Peavey T-Max Head (Also, SWEET!)

-Peavey 4x10 cabinet...nice sound, again too big but not unpractical.

-Acoustic Bass...used to sit around with my hippie friends in our hippie park on our hippie blankets and jam. Not as loud as I thought it would be.

An all around good year. Hopefully this year will bring me a cabinet that I can use for awhile! ;)

Those who know me already know... ;) And it's just too much to even type! Basically, write out your dream bass list and I had it and whored it this year.

I'll be down to just my two fretted Q5's by the end of Jan. Crazy!

2007:
Badass II bridge (thanks to Rummy:thu:)
1 set of GHS Rotosounds

2008:

Maybe a new head, if I can sell my current one (P.O.S. GK, not dogging on GK, but no matter what gets done to this thing it still keeps sucking) for a decent amount of money, and depending on how much money is left over in my tatoo fund later this year.:thu:

Gong, coupla new cymbals and stands. Alesis ControlPad plus a few trigger pads. Love the stuff, always cool to add new capabilities to the drumset.

Bass-wise, I acquired a Conklin GT7! At $500 in perfect condition an incredible deal. What can I say... it's awesome! Sonically it has its own character, yet it's very versatile. And for a 7-string, it's amazingly easy to play.

Lots of smaller bits came and went in '07 (I'm constantly adding to and tweaking my PA and light rigs), but the one thing that made a real impact was my Benz combo -a NeoX400-112T. Absolutely killer. I've gushed and raved about it many times here (and elsewhere) so instead of another lengthy analysis I will simply say that it is THE sh*t. Best rig I've ever owned, by a long shot.

I guess my keyboard was a pretty cool purchase too. I'm not a keys player really, just needed something to dink around with, work out parts, get basic scratch demo tracks down, etc. I picked up a used Roland XP-30 and it's been extremely cool. I'm getting way more use out of it than I originally intended.

Purchases to make in 2008? - mostly PA related. The plan is to go with IEMs and I need to build up the system, and I'd like to switch out my 1604VLZ board for a MixWiz. No real plans to change out anything bass wise.
