Members Super Bass
I didn't put grooves in either of mine. I have two badass II bridges. I haven't had any problems with them. The strings eventually cut their own grooves, at least on mine they did.
Members guitargod0dmw
You can, but you don't have to. I probably would, but that would really be just to get the action as low as I could.

Members Thumper
Welcome to the Forum! You don't need to cut grooves in the saddles, unless you want to lower the action or if you have a particularly hard picking/plucking technique. If you decide to cut slots, make sure you dress them properly as burrs will lead to premature string breakage.
Members parsons
i put the slots in mine. The strings would move too much and come off the nut on the low E if I didnt. I also beat my strings like they owe me money...
Members Jim-Bass
I put a Badass II on my last Jazz ...it was good, ery good .... makes those standard bridge plates look so feeble.
