end the fender stranglehold.....

but at least fender has a history and some depth and importance behind it.

truth. nowadays wick seems to just be trying to come up w/ the funkiest design possible for a bass, ergonomics be damned, and just see if the kiddies will eat it up. seems to be working.

Ha, you guys hate my entire collection. That's ok though, as it's been known for a long time that this forum has very poor taste in bass, and very little appreciation for any but about two basses out there.
:p

Which are the two unanimously acclaimed basses?

I guess I'll go against the grain and say I don't really mind Warwicks. I dislike their looks, but I've enjoyed the few I've played.

Basses everyone likes and I don't:

Rickenbacker- I wish I could dig them. I love the way they sound, and the way they look. They just don't feel correct in my hands or when I wear them, so I could never be comfortable playing one.

Dean basses (The only person that I know likes them is that TN Frank guy that used to post here) :freak:

BC Rich basses

Some Ibanez basses (I only like the ATK and SR series)

Jazz Basses

Gibson basses (except the Thunderbird)

Schecter basses (I only like the Schecter Ultra Bass)

Yamaha basses

Washburn basses

Schecters and basses in that vein do nothing for me.

Fenders are hit-and-miss for me-I'm not a fan of most of them, but there are some that jump out and grab me.

Rics, for me, are too odd ergonomically for a bass that doesn't sound much different from a Fender, and they're overpriced to boot.

Ibanez have such small necks that my hands/wrists cramp almost instantly when I play them. :freak:

And most basses with Bart pickups-they just sound too polite for me.

Bongos (though lots of people dislike the look of those)

Non-Slab P Basses, even though I own one.

Warwicks (BOALG was 100% correct...for the first time ever)

Most coffee table basses (gorgeous wood, but most of them do nothing for me).

Anything with black hardware

Headless Basses (Stenies are the ugliest things on the planet to my eyes)...

Edit: Red Basses...hate them with a passion. I've seen maybe one red bass that didn't make me think "god that's fugly"...
