Members phaeton
I have a really cheap P knockoff, and an active P/J: (and a horribly messy room) One is a great knock around bass, the other is a great instrument all 'round. But..... Now, I want a str8 up passive P. And maybe a sr8 up passive J. I love the P/J to tears, really I do! Why oh why? Why can't I just play the f**k out of what I have and be happy? Members phaeton
i dont understand the question Why must I pine for basses that I don't own, when I could just be happy with one? It's all about GAS.

Members phaeton
Put a active/passive switch in your PJ. Problem solved. Working on that. I'm going to pull the pickguard (and trace it for a replacement) before the next Mouser/Jameco/Futurlec order. I think I can replace the volume pot with a DPDT push-pull and rewire it to go active/passive. Otherwise, the replacement pickguard could have an improvision for a mini toggle switch. I'll have to look at it and see how it's set up. But still. Sometimes I just want a plain ole P bass. Butterscotch blonde with a one-piece black pickguard. No frills. No active nothing. One sound, but a good one. That's what Rock N Roll was built on.
Members Incubitabus
basses are like women (or men, depending on what you're into). You might have hooked up with one for a long time, hell, you might have married her, but that will never stop you from wanting to nail the waitress you saw at lunch.
