Members 78pbass
My fretted ATK is my baby. of all the gear I'm selling, its the one bass staying. Cold dead hands and stuff... My fretless ATK is for sale tho. PM me for details
Members guitargod0dmw
I like ATK's a lot as well, but I still prefer the Stingray. I strongly prefer the looks of the SR...the ATK's headstock is fugly! I also prefer the playability and feel of the SR, but the ATK ain't bad by any means. You've been wanting an SR for as long as I can remember...
Members Goofball Jones
Get the EB/MM that costs over 7K...because it sounds 7 times better than just the 1K one. What I can't understand is that all I usually see on Youtube with Stingrays is slapping and popping. These are normal basses too you know. I do well with my SR and I never do slap bass. Just not my thing.
Members Jugghaid
Rays really do everything well. slapping, great rock/metal tone, etc. So do ATKs. I really dig ATKs but hopefully I'll have a new Ray by next week.
Members T. Alan Smith
ATKs are a fliippin' RIOT! I only prefer the 'Ray by a very small margin.

Ball Family Reserve 20th Anniversary SR5. I'd love to have one...but there is NO way I would ever pay that much for a bass!

You can find them here and there for about 1800-ish. I'd want something I'm not afraid to gig with.

I have 3 of them and I rarely slap...I don't slap at all in any of my bands songs. I think it's just flashier to the masses to see a bassist slap. I like to every now and then, but it's not really my thing either. I STILL need to try out an ATK bass! I've always wanted to, but I'm afraid that if I do I may start liking it too much and go into a phase of wanting to shell out hundreds of dollars for another bass, which I really DON'T need! Members ToeJamFootball
Wow, that SR5 looks sweet without the Pickgaurd! Do EB make that one but with just the single pickup?

Maybe not the Ball Family Reserve, but they do make the 20th Anniversary model as a single H, H/S, or HH... http://www.basscentral.com/musicman/stingray5_ann.shtml

Haha, sorry man, I thought you had the Stingrays confused. I haven't had a chance to play an ATK yet, I like the look of them, all except for the bridge. I would also not describe the sound of a Stingray as smooth.
Members jasper383
The stereotype that the Stingray can only be used for slap. Paul Denman gets a smooth sound from his Stingray.
Members guitargod0dmw
Paul Denman gets a smooth sound from his Stingray. I'm not familiar with his work. Sade' is the only thing that I've listened to, and that was because an ex on mine kinda forced it on me. I'll have to check out more of his work...
