Members 0175westwood29
Nope. Just use a good quality strap with at least some thick leather ends. Personally I like nice wide full leather straps. + 1 i double over the ends of my leather strap

Members Hopi
Whenever I get a new bass, I feel like scraping a flathead screwdriver from the upper horn to the back strap button, just to get it over with.

Members georgestrings
Gotta use past tense dude.... (haven't been on stage in 20 years)But....No I never had a problem and we even had some stage choreography. (dance rock ya know)I actually beat up my stage basses quite a bit. I didn't swing em around my shoulder, like you see guys doing now.I just never used a worn out strap. I gig a fair amount, and throw my basses around pretty good, too - I wouldn't think of playing a bass or guitar standing up without some sort of strap lock device - even if it was just rubber washers... YMMV, - georgestrings
