If that check that George W. Bush is going to send me is as big as the news says it's gonna be, I'm gonna use it to build me a SICK Warmoth bass.

Thank god for shady political dealings and obtuse tax schemes. The last time Bush sent me a check, I bought a {censored}in' sweet snowboard!

{censored} it I'm gonna vote for Bush again in November.

I'm actually not kidding. In case you haven't heard, the government is supposedly going to send out "rebate" checks of $800 per taxpayer sometime this spring. Something about stimulating the economy...

Yeah I read it in the other thread :DGood for you man :thu: I can't wait to get my tax return, too bad it's around 5 months away! Gives me 5 months to choose a new bass though I guess :D

What's the criteria for getting the rebate? I admittedly haven't been paying that close of attention to the whole thing.

You have to be a hate-filled, reactionary, pothead cocksucker who spends at least 35% of his income on underage thai hookers and midget porn...

Which is why you're getting some phat green! :thu:

Supposedly its 600 per single person, 1200 per family, with 300 additional for each child. And from what Ive heard you only have to make under 75,000 but at least enough to file for taxes. The people that dont make enough or are exempt somehow will only get a 300 dollar rebate.

This plan is always L approved. Just make damn sure it's truly SICK, and not just another look alike clone, and that means no P or J bodies with fender headstocks and definitly some points.

That rebate sux too, I get none and I could really use it to cover a set of pups for my next sick Warmoth.:(

I wish Warmoth offered some more unique body shapes in their 5 strings. I might go for like a G5 body with their 13 degree headstock styling, but I don't know yet. If I had a bandsaw I would go for one of their pre-routed blanks.

Even with the Deluxe 5 Jazz body, I could sand away a little bit of the shape and make it unique, but there's not alot of room for error. I'll probably make it more rounded on the top edge, because I don't like the wide hips on typical jazz bodies.

No matter what, I'm going for a bass with all exotic woods that don't require hard finishes.

I agree on the jazz bodies, which is probably why I like the dinky J a lot more. BTW they are willing to do deluxe five neck pockets on four string bodies, if you ask really nice and throw in a little extra scratch. I've got a Z with a five string neck sitting right here next to it's big bro five string explorer. The G body does look good with the angled neck though, very high class. I might go with a Gecko neck though on a fiver, they're 35" scale vs 34" for the deluxe 5. Might make for a better tone on the low B, but they would only do that on a Gecko body...

But what if you don't like most of Warmoth's other bodies and absolutely hate pointy metal bull{censored}? :D

Edit: On the other hand, if I could get them to make this in a bass body, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on pudding...

Oh, I know Lecompte's got that bodystyle (I've dug it from the moment folks started posting about him)...

What I don't have is two and a half large that I can spend on it.

Which is why I'd love if Warmoth came out with that body style.:D

And the one I dig is this one, the wood is so tasty (and I've never been a fan of black hardware):

Edit: I also like the fact you fixed your broken quote tags :D Pisses me off when people don't do that, makes their posts a pita to read...

Yeah, but trust me, if Warmoth came out with that as a bass finishing it up proper will still cost you two and a half large.:p:cry:

Body $500 (heck, lets say 750 with finish), $300 for neck, $500 for hardware and electronics, all three of which are overestimates, and that's still $1500...:D

I'm not sure about how you read it, but this statement doesn't explain to me where the other grand is coming from...
:p

Does Warmoth charge for empty posturing and vaguely patronizing statements?
dunno.gif;)

They would if they could. All I know is that after three Warmoth projects, I can say that one done with quality components starts at $1500 for parts and usually goes up from there for things you didn't plan on or realize it needs. Also doesn't include any professional work done on it, but that's only if you don't do it all yourself. Also doesn't include any non standard options. Believe me, I never knew where the other grand came from either on my explorer, but it came from somewhere...

edit: an example is on my current project. I've got more tied up in pickups and the Audere pre than you've budgeted for all the hardware and electronics. A big chunk of the budget is hardware if you build a truly top end bass.
