I'm not a metal guy, but I am curious about the Metallica record. I want to hear Rob Trujillo in on the songwriting.

I agree, I want to see how Rob does. I've seen live footage of recent gigs (2007) and he seems to be fitting in much better and has a better tone than when I saw him back in about 2003 or 2004. :)

Is anyone else looking forward to these albums in 2008?

Slipknot

Trivium

Metallica

Nevermore

Slipknot - They're good, dunno about looking forward to it though. I don't like Mushroom head though, and I'm an Ohioan.

Trivium - Nah

Metallica - What Bogster said and then some. When's the last time you heard a St. Anger song covered on commerical radio? Hopefully the band and Rob mesh with each other well.

Nevermore - Who?

:thu:

The kind of music Metallica SHOULD be putting out...

It had it's moments, but overall I am not impressed.
:(:idk:

I listened to snippets of each song.

Born sounds like a "Master of Puppets" song in the first 30 seconds.

That song and I Voyager both remind me of Rob Halford and the video from I Voyager seems to indicate even more of an influence.

They're not bad, but I'm not gunna rush out the door and buy any of their albums. Thanks for the links mang. :thu:

Trivium - No. They suck...and they sound like they're stealing old Metallica riff

have you listened to their earlier stuff? Ember to Inferno and Ascendancy?

Way different than The crusade and way way better.

The Crusade definitely sounds like a Metallica ripoff.

Slipknot - Never really heard a lot of them

Trivium - I've seen them live when they were opening for Iron Maiden, and I didn't like them AT ALL. Horrible...

Metallica - I like some of the older stuff. I'll have a listen to the new album, but I doubt I will buy it.

Nevermore - Not even heard of them.

Yes. Matt Heafy is a decent player, singer, and writer...but it's just not my thing. Their cover of Master of Puppets was pretty good though! :)

This is supposedly a high quality copy of a new rough Metallica song.

:idk:

They have said in interviews somewhere that this song wont be on the album. It was just something they messed around with live. I think they were doing this before Rick Rubin came on board. From what I have gathered he supposedly is the one that got them going back to the standard tuning and pushing to have them return to their older style. One can only hope.

That's cool. And yeah, I've seen a few covers they have done and all were pretty damn good. It's not hard to tell who their main influence was. ;)
