Members Rootdogg
Nice. Thanks for the input. I am going to sit at the shop sometime soon and check out the Moog Ring mod and the FreqBox. See which I like better.
Members playitagainsam
My extremely cheap Zoom digital reverb has a ring modulator function which I used to good effect for dalek voices. Never tried the bass through it though. Ring modulation is not hard, that's why they managed it in the 60's for Dr Who, so I wouldn't fork out a lot for that effect. Members Jazz Ad
Oh for the record, the ring mod I posted higher comes from a Korg AX-1B, a cheap multi you can find for $40 at best.
Members groutt
I don't know anything about commercial ring mods. Do most of them have built in oscillators? Do they have 2 inputs?
Members Jazz Ad
Most have a single input for your instrument and modulate it against a fixed frequency.Sometimes the frequency is fixed (DOD Gonkulator for example), most of the time you can adjust it with a knob or expression pedal. Members Goofball Jones
Yep. It's a real creative challenge to get music out of them. Not unlike me with a regular bass...
